October is National Physical Therapy Month! This month, we’re celebrating the physical therapists, PTAs, and entire care teams who help people move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what they love.

From recovering from an injury to managing pain, improving mobility, or reaching a new goal, physical therapy is about helping people get back to the life they want to live.

Happy October! If you missed #45 at our Maple clinic last week, you'll be able to find him just a short drive away! Please join us in congratulating Jason Domina, PT, DPT, on his promotion to Clinic Manager of our West Omaha/Elkhorn location!

Jason has been a physical therapist for 10 years and has been an important part of the Makovicka Physical Therapy team for more than four years. Most recently, he served as the Lead Therapist at our 90th Street clinic, where he has demonstrated exceptional clinical skills, leadership, and dedication.

We are excited to see all that Jason will bring to the West Omaha/Elkhorn clinic and look forward to this next chapter! Congratulations, Jason!

Earlier this week, Kyle White, PTA, had the opportunity to speak at the Wahoo Senior Center about the importance of loading and lifting weights for older adults. He shared helpful information on how strength training can support mobility, independence, and overall well-being as we age.

It's Makovicka Monday! Read from Maisie Ohlrich, PT, DPT, LAT, ATC, on who she is and what she loves about being a physical therapist.

“My interest in physical therapy began when I attended appointments with my dad after he injured his knee playing volleyball. That experience sparked my curiosity about the profession, which grew during my time in the athletic training program at the University of Nebraska Wesleyan. I enjoyed helping athletes progress through their injuries. My experience as a PT tech also helped to affirm my passion for working in the clinic and making connections with people.

My favorite thing about working with patients is getting to know each person; their backgrounds, their stories, and the things that matter most to them. I love being able to support them throughout their journey and help them get back to doing the things they love most.

I love spending time with my fiancé and new puppy, weekends at the lake with my family, and outdoor activities.”
