“I don’t love this job anymore.”

That sentence usually does not come from the lazy ones.

It comes from the ones who cared too much for too long.

The ones who ran the calls.
Stayed late.
Trained the new people.
Covered the shifts.
Carried the things nobody saw.

And the heartbreaking part?

Most of them were not broken by the job.

They were broken by the culture.

The gossip.
The politics.
The favoritism.
The cliques.
The leaders who protect titles harder than they protect people.
The coworkers who make the station, truck, office, or dispatch room feel heavier than the calls ever did.

That is what makes good first responders start looking for the door.

Not because they stopped caring.

Because they got tired of caring in places that made them feel disposable.

So if you feel like you lost the love for the job, maybe you did not lose the love.

Maybe you lost the safety.
The trust.
The peace.
The belief that your own people had your back.

Do not let broken culture convince you your heart for this work was fake.

This field still needs people who care.

Just make sure when it is your turn to lead…

you do not become the reason somebody else loses the love.

What a great way to start a very busy teaching month for me and Brian. Here in Steele Creek , NC for the second day of CPR/AED training for Bull Engineered Products employees. It’s gonna be a great day!

We are back for our 3rd staff and student CPR/AED class for 9Round Fitness.
Can’t believe it has been almost 7 years that I have been apart of this awesome gym.. thank you Brooke Keuvelaar Garrison for having me back once again, me and our manikins are ready!!
