July is UV Safety Awareness Month.

Whether you're heading to the beach, walking the dog, or just running errands - don't forget to protect your skin. UV rays can cause long-term damage, including skin cancer, even on cloudy days.

✅Wear sunscreen
✅Grab a hat
✅Don't forget sunglasses
✅Stay in the shade whenever possible

Protect your skin to protect your health.

As cancer care costs continue to rise in the U.S., the oncology landscape is evolving. One of the most significant changes shaping the future of cancer care is the growing adoption of value-based care.

For oncology fellows preparing to enter practice, understanding this model is becoming increasingly important, as it is influencing how care is delivered, how practices operate and how physicians are measured for success.

The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) commissioned a study using data from the Flatiron Health Research Network (FHRN) that affirmed the high quality of cancer care delivered in community settings, with longer survival rates observed for certain metastatic cancers than those reported in industry benchmarks.

COA Executive Committee Officer-at-Large, AON chief medical officer, and medical oncologist and hematologist at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute, Dr. Stephen “Fred” Divers was an instrumental contributor to the study.

Read this Q&A blog post with Dr. Divers to learn more about how the study was conducted and what the results mean for community oncology patients and the field: https://hubs.li/Q04lK5S80

Today is Cancer Survivors Day 💙

Chances are, you know someone who has survived cancer. In the United States alone, one out of every three people is expected to receive a cancer diagnosis during their lifetime. Currently, about 18.6 million Americans are living as cancer survivors and that number is expected to climb to 22.4 million over the next decade.

Cancer Survivors: we are inspired by your resilience and honored to be a part of your journey. Today, we celebrate survivorship, the support of our family, friends, and caregivers, and the hope of thriving after cancer.

Check out the National Cancer Survivors Day's website for more information on celebrations happening today and support resources you can use all year long: https://hubs.li/Q04kp1R40

June is Men's Health Month.

Men’s Health Month aims to raise awareness about preventable health issues and encourages men and boys to adopt healthier lifestyles. It highlights the critical need for routine medical checkups, early disease detection, and mental health support to improve overall wellbeing.

Men face specific physical and mental health challenges that often go ignored due to a reluctance to seek medical care. Understanding and proactively managing these areas can significantly improve longevity and quality of life. 💙
