Equine bodywork is about more than simply working on a muscle that appears tight or uncomfortable. A thorough approach involves assessing the horse and using different techniques to help identify areas of tension or restriction.

Throughout my training, I have learned techniques, some of my favorite including vibration therapy and stress point therapy, which can be used as part of the assessment and bodywork process to evaluate how a horse responds to touch and pressure.

By observing the horse’s responses, movement, posture, and areas of sensitivity, bodywork can help identify patterns of muscular tension and areas that may benefit from additional attention.

It is important to remember that bodywork is not a replacement for veterinary care or diagnosis. If a horse is showing signs of pain, lameness, illness, or injury, a veterinarian should always be involved.

My goal is to take an individualized approach to each horse and better understand what their body may need, and what i can offer to reach those goals.

Sometimes the pain is much deeper than you can imagine, and your horse may be dealing with it without even telling you.

"My horse always tries to buck me off when I ride I cant find the problem."
- They might be locked up in there withers or hips and in need of chiropractic treatment.

"My horse just wont tighten their turn around the barrel."
- Maybe their shoulders are really tight, and need to see a massage therapist.

"My horse is on the best feed and supplements on the market and still not gaining weight!"
- They could be getting a nutrient overload, and its actually doing more damage than good, try an equine nutrition specialist!

Now this isn't meant to be controversial im any way! And this may not suit every horse, as we know some of them do genuinely like to be naughty. But sometimes fancy supplements, medications, and saddle pads only last us so long before the horse starts really showing signs of pain! Start at the roots, body, mind, basics. You may be surprised with the difference it may make!

🐴💪 MUSCLE MONDAY: TRAPEZIUS

The trapezius is located along the neck, withers, and upper shoulder. It plays an important role in supporting movement through the neck and shoulder! 🐎✨

Tension in this area can contribute to stiffness and restricted movement.

Have you ever noticed tightness in your horse’s trapezius? 👇💆‍♀️

🤔 Looking for a new supplement to try but not sure where to start?

As an certified equine massage therapist and equine nutritionist, I know how overwhelming it can be to choose the right products for your horse. There are so many options, but not all supplements are created equal.

That’s why I recommend Formula One Equine Blue Label. 💙 It’s been a great addition to my own horse’s program, and I love recommending products that support overall health and performance.

Whether your horse is a seasoned competitor, a weekend trail partner, or enjoying retirement, good nutrition is the foundation of feeling and performing their best.

💬 Have questions about whether it might be a good fit for your horse? Drop them in the comments or send me a message, I’d be happy to help!

✨ What’s your horse’s favorite supplement right now? Let me know below!

🐄✨ Not all of my clients say “neigh!”

Today I had the opportunity to work on this sweet steer who has been dealing with hock issues and significant stiffness. Through targeted bodywork, we were able to help release some of that tension and improve his comfort and mobility. A little at a time!

Watching an animal move more freely after a session is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Whether they moo or neigh, every animal deserves to feel their best. ❤️

🐴 Muscle Monday: Posterior Pectoral 🐴

The posterior pectoral helps support your horse’s trunk between the front legs and plays a key role in movement, balance, and stability. Tightness in this muscle can contribute to shortened strides, stiffness, and decreased performance.

Regular bodywork can help keep this important muscle relaxed and functioning at its best, allowing your horse to move more freely and comfortably.
