This campaign will create a dedicated therapy space directly on our inpatient floor, allowing patients, including stroke patients, to begin therapy sooner, with fewer barriers and greater continuity of care. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment is coming up! If you or a loved one needs assistance reviewing prescription drug coverage, we’re here to help. Our free Open Enrollment Events will provide an opportunity to meet with trained SHIP Counselors who can help you review your options and provide unbiased guidance.

World Mental Health Day is observed on Oct. 10 and encourages conversations about mental health, access to care, and support for people of every age.

Checking in with a loved one can begin with a caring question: “How have you been feeling lately?” Listening with patience can help someone feel supported and may open the door to additional care when needed.

Our Senior Life Solutions and Outpatient Behavioral Health providers provides mental health services for those experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and other emotional or behavioral health concerns. Services include group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management.

We are excited to announce that Kiley Wohlers, Social Services Assistant, has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Nebraska Hospital Association's Caring Kind Award! 👏💙This award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and compassion in providing care to patients and serving others in their healthcare communities.

Kiley has been a valued member of the PMC team for 26 years. She began her career with us as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) before joining the social services team, where she continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

“Kiley’s dedication to her patients goes far beyond their time in the hospital,” said Leslie Schulz. “The lasting relationships she builds with patients and families truly embody the spirit of the Caring Kind Award.” As a strong patient advocate, Kiley is committed to doing what is best for each patient. This month, we come together to support those who have been affected by breast cancer and to raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

Mammograms and Breast MRIs are two critical tools in the fight against breast cancer. These screenings help detect changes in the breast tissue early on, giving patients the best chance for successful treatment.

Schedule your mammogram screening, or speak with your physician regarding a breast MRI, and encourage a loved one to do the same!

Our next Department of the Month feature includes Social Services, Maintenance, and Senior Life Solutions!

🫂The social services department addresses safe discharge planning with the patient and family members, provides support throughout their hospital stay and advocates for the patient’s needs and well-being. They send referrals for community support services and to nursing homes/assisted living facilities. They also provide spiritual support. They house the Utilization Review team where they ensure that each patient receives medically appropriate care throughout their hospital stay and works closely with insurance companies to review and approve services.

🔨The Maintenance Department keeps our facilities safe, well maintained, and running smoothly. The team monitors HVAC systems, handles general repairs and painting, and completes larger renovation projects to meet the changing needs of our hospital. They also maintain the grounds through regular mowing, snow removal, and other outdoor maintenance. Their work helps create a safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

👩‍🦳👨‍🦳Senior Life Solutions is an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed for adults 65 and older, struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety, often related to aging. This program allows older adults to be integrated into a group setting to learn different coping skills and mechanisms to help overcome challenges/ stressors they are experiencing. Each participant follows an individual assessment and meets up to three times per week in a supportive and encouraging group setting.
