We did our best to beat the summer heat today at Summit Square, where neighbors gathered for a patriotic afternoon filled with the simple pleasures of the season. There were tomato sandwiches made the Southern way with Duke's Mayonnaise, plenty of laughter, and live music that carried through the air. If summer in the Shenandoah Valley had a soundtrack, it might sound a lot like this.
