Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Carter-Gilmore will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at Sweet Pilgrim United Methodist Church in Shubuta, with Rev. Kevin Carter officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Carter-Gilmore, 83, an Albany NY resident formerly of Shubuta, transitioned October 13, 2026 at Delmar Center, also in Albany NY. She was a retired finance clerk for the state of New York State Tax and Finance Department.

Mrs. Carter-Gilmore’s viewing will occur Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the church, prior to the funeral.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Virginia Whitfield will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon at Bethlehem MB Church in Shubuta, with Pastor Terry Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Whitfield, 67, of Waynesboro, departed her life October 16, 2026 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. She was a loan officer and branch president with Bancorp South.

Mrs. Whitfield’s wake will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Turner Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Anthony “Tony” Hill will be held Thursday, October 22nd, at 12:00 noon at Word of Faith Christian Center located at 52 Broadacres Dr. in Hattiesburg, with Pastor Dennis Buckley officiating, and Friday, October 23rd, also at 12:00 PM at Chicora United MB Church in the Chicora community (Buckatunna) with Bishop Brenda English officiating.

Interment will follow at Chicora-Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Hill, 56, of Chicora, transitioned October 11, 2026 in Chicora. He was a service technician employed with Orkin Co, and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Funeral services for Mr. Edward Wallace will be held Saturday, October 24th, at 12:00 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church in Quitman. Rev. Advail McKenzie will serve as officiant, with interment following at the church cemetery.

Mr. Wallace, 65, of Quitman, passed away October 11, 2026 at Ochsner Rush’s Specialty Hospital in Meridian.

Mr. Wallace’s viewing period will occur Saturday, October 24th at the church prior to the funeral.
