REIS, William “Bill” L., age 67, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, surrounded by his devoted wife.

Bill honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. During his service, he worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. He later continued his education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating in 2004. Bill worked as a mechanic for GE Aviation in Evendale for 10 years, until his retirement in January of 2026.

A man of faith, Bill was a member of the Waynesville Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting deer and cruising the country roads on his motorcycle. He also deeply enjoyed traveling with his wife. They spent their honeymoon in Hawaii and made memorable trips to Las Vegas and Germany, where his daughter was living. Bill also had an interest in collecting German b**r steins, which he proudly displayed alongside keepsakes from his travels.

Bill was known for his funny, joking personality and was always a “rock” for his wife, Jeanne. Of all the things that filled his life, he was most proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family was incredibly important to him, and the time spent together created memories they will forever cherish.

MATTIA, Frank J., age 83, of Centerville, passed away on August 30, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Frank was born on August 14, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Carlo Mattia and Jeanne Mattia. He grew up in New York, graduated from high school at 16, and then moved to Ohio. He devoted much of his life to education and to helping young people learn and grow. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and later received his master’s degree in education. Over a career spanning more than 20 years, Frank served as an educator and principal. His dedication to education extended well beyond the classroom. He started as a history teacher, which aligned with one of his passions. He was associated with St. Anthony’s of Dayton and the Incarnation School for many years, serving as principal until 1996. He was the owner and operator of the Developmental Learning Center and Cradle to Crayons Daycare in Centerville until his retirement in 2017. He remained deeply interested in history and education throughout his life. He worked with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, where he assisted with grant work and was the superintendent.

Frank was the kind of person who was always willing to help. As a principal, he made a lasting impression on his students, and former students remembered him fondly even many years later. SARA, Shirley Rae, age 92, of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Shirley was born July 11, 1934, in Cold Spring, Kentucky, to the welcoming arms of Luther and Goldie Welch. She graduated from Harveysburg High School, class of 1952. She dedicated many years to technical support at the Mary L. Cook Public Library in Waynesville, retiring in 2023 after 36 years of service. Shirley participated in Hebrew Roots, a Torah-keeping Christian group.

A woman deeply devoted to God, Shirley centered much of her life around her faith and her family. She moved to Florida in 1956 when her husband, Carl, was stationed in Florida for an assignment. When he came home, he told her how beautiful it was, and they decided to move there. She wasn’t thrilled about the idea in the beginning, but once she was there, she really liked it. Shirley told others that as much as she enjoyed Melbourne, Florida, she felt like it was too sunny. She was very self-sufficient and in control of her life.

For over 20 years, she was the director of the Happy Landing Boys Ranch in Florida. The ranch was a place for troubled boys. The ranch also had an accredited school where several kids graduated. Her son, Don, proudly took the position as Assistant Director, and together they ran the ranch. The Happy Landings Boy Ranch became one of her greatest accomplishments, and she was very proud of it. Kendrick E. “Ken” Kenny, age 61, a man of faith, family, and country, of Springboro, formerly of Bullitt County, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at his residence.

Ken was a confident, loyal and strong-willed man who knew exactly who he was and remained true to himself throughout his life. He had a strong moral compass and believed in doing the right thing. Described by those closest to him as an “All-American man,” he was intelligent, trustworthy and always willing to stand behind what he believed. He was a kindhearted man whose family meant everything to him.

Cars were one of Ken’s greatest passions, especially anything fast or classic. He was particularly fond of Ford Mustangs, and he never missed an opportunity to make it known that Chevys were definitely not for him. Shortly after Ken and Jamie were married, they purchased a bright red 1989 Mustang with a Pink Floyd license plate. That first Mustang helped begin a family tradition, with several other family members eventually owning Mustangs of their own. The original remained in the family throughout Kenny’s life and later became a special project for Ken and his son, Kenny, who enjoyed working on it together. Ken also enjoyed off-roading in their Ford Bronco and just about anything else that gave him an excuse to spend time around cars.

LIFFICK, David Noel, age 85, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

David was born October 15, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Emil“Leon” and Martha Liffick. He graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School and received his bachelor’s in education from Miami University. David was a beloved high school teacher and coach at Fremont, Middletown Maddison, Twin Valley South (West Alexandria), and Waynesville High School, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. Throughout his career, he made a lasting impact on generations of students, both in the classroom and through athletics. He taught PE, health, science, and driver’s ed. He coached varsity basketball, girls softball, and golf and was known for always encouraging his students and athletes to be their very best. Even after retiring as a teacher, he continued to coach. He was respected by students and colleagues alike. He was a lifelong member of the Waynesville First Baptist Church, currently the Waynesville Community Church.

Sports remained an important part of David’s life long after his coaching days. He was an avid golfer who could often be found playing at Holly Hills and was part of their Wednesday night league until they closed their doors. LINDAMOOD, Nolan Dennis, age 84, of Centerville, passed away at Kettering Medical Center.

Nolan graduated from Central High School in Xenia, class of ’60, and was raised Catholic. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. During his time in the service, he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he served with the 17th Engineer Battalion of the 2nd Armored Division. His military duties included working as a heavy-truck driver, a role well suited to his mechanical ability and one that would remain an important part of his life.

A talented mechanic who seemed able to figure out how almost anything worked, Nolan spent much of his career in the automotive industry. He owned and operated an automotive repair and body shop, Centerville Motorcoach, on Clyo Road in Centerville, and was known for being exceptionally smart and gifted at working on cars and fixing things. He also worked at Bonnybrook Farms in Centerville for over 25 years, where he put his mechanical skills to use on tractors and on various projects. He created all the scenes for their haunted hayrides and was talented beyond measure.

Nolan’s interest in automobiles began when he was young. He especially loved Model T Fords and had one when he was only five years old. PIERCE, Majorie “Margie” L., age 81, of Waynesville and formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Margie graduated from Hillsboro High School, class of ‘62, and was a member of Samantha Baptist Church. She was known for a lifelong work ethic, approaching every job with an unmarked grit and determination, setting an example for all who knew her. She was employed by Rotary Forms Press, Inc., in Hillsboro, before spending more than 20 years working as a freight handler for Airborne and DHL in Wilmington before her retirement.

She was an amazing cook who could prepare just about anything, but her significant other, Paul, will always remember her beef roasts and spicy spaghetti.
Margie cherished animals of all kinds and particularly enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cat, Pepper. She also enjoyed flower gardening and had a special fondness for pink roses. Margie loved watching the birds, and hummingbirds were always her favorite. She took pride in mowing her four acres of all grass and loved going fishing with Paul.

Margie was easygoing, quiet, and sweet, with a wonderful sense of humor. She was always particular about how she looked and wanted her clothes to look nice. She cherished spending time with her family and enjoyed gathering with them for birthdays and holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. SIZEMORE-RUDDOCK, Peggy Ann, age 75, of Midland, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Copper Knoll Health and Rehab in Washington Court House.

Peggy was born on November 8, 1950, to Thomas and Margaret Sizemore. Peggy graduated from Clinton-Massie High School, class of ’70. She retired in 2002 from Epitec, specifically SIMCO USA, in Maineville after 25 years of employment, during which she worked as a shift supervisor. Peggy was active with Bible Baptist Church in Wilmington.

A proud Sizemore through and through, Peggy knew exactly who she was and made no apologies for it. She was strong-willed, stubborn, and set in her ways, but she was also honest, selfless, and always willing to help others. She carried herself with a quiet strength, and those who knew her best understood that beneath her tough and sometimes blunt exterior was a woman who cared deeply for the people in her life. The Sizemore name meant something to Peggy, and she carried it with great pride throughout her life.

Peggy loved being outdoors. Some of her favorite pastimes included water skiing, fishing, and spending time at Lake Cumberland. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and working in her yard. She cherished the memories she made while bowling and playing in a league. BALDWIN, Katrina L., age 63, of Waynesville, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties in Middletown.

Katrina was a proud member of the Waynesville Marching Band. She graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ‘81. She continued her education at Wilmington College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2018. Katrina worked in human resources at Tapco for 20 years, then continued in the same role at High Tech Manufacturing for over 10 years. She was dedicated to her work; many times, far more than she should have been. In addition, she had been involved with the Lebanon Athletic Boosters, serving as treasurer for approximately 10 years. She was actively involved in Rainbow Girls, the All-American Drill Team, the Waynesville Drill Team, Girl Scouts, and 4-H. She was known for being very involved and connected with the local communities. She was a member of Springboro Baptist Church.

Above all, Katrina was devoted to her family. The love and commitment shared between her and her husband, Gene, were incomparable. They had a strong friendship for 10 years, dated for two years, and were married for an additional 30 years. PRICE, Kimberly Anne “Kimmy”, age 61, of Waynesville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Kimmy was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day in 1964. She was brought home to Waynesville in a shoebox by her mother, Carole, aunt Linda, and uncle Lester. She graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’83. She proudly worked as a caregiver in nursing homes throughout the surrounding area. In addition, she spent seven years working on the assembly line at DMAX/General Motors.

Kimmy will be remembered as a big-hearted, loving, friendly, and supportive person who was always easy to talk to. Above all, family was the center of her life. She was especially proud of her sons, Corey and Cameron, her nine grandchildren, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

In her free time, Kimmy enjoyed watching television, especially dramas, reality TV, and soap operas. She loved going shopping with her sister-in-law, Ginny, looking at pictures, and collecting and admiring antiques. She also had a special love for animals, particularly cats and dogs. Kimmy enjoyed Pepsi and had a sweet tooth, with favorites including Sweet Tarts, Skittles, and Circus Peanuts.
