🚨 5 MISTAKES THAT COULD PUT YOUR IV BUSINESS (AND NURSING LICENSE) AT RISK!

I've talked to WAY too many nurses who thought they had everything they needed to legally operate their IV hydration business.

They got their LLC. ✅
They found a medical director. ✅
They purchased malpractice insurance. ✅
And they figured they were good to go.

But here's the problem...

Just because you have those things doesn't automatically mean you're operating compliantly.

And what you DON'T know could end up costing you your business, your money, or even your nursing license.

After operating two IV clinics in Texas for years and helping nurses across the country launch their own wellness businesses, I've seen the same 5 mistakes come up over and over again.

MISTAKE #1: Thinking an LLC is all you need.
Depending on your state, you may need additional agreements and a different business structure.

MISTAKE #2: Assuming any medical director will do.
Having a doctor's name on an agreement isn't enough. You need the right oversight, proper protocols, and someone who understands your state's requirements.

MISTAKE #3: Copying what another nurse is doing.
Just because your friend is legally offering certain IV treatments in Texas doesn't mean you can do the exact same thing in California, New York, or North Carolina.

Different states. Different rules.

MISTAKE #4: Assuming your insurance covers everything.
I've talked to nurses who operated for MONTHS thinking they were covered, only to discover their policies didn't actually cover the services they were providing.

MISTAKE #5: Launching now and figuring out compliance later.

This might be the most dangerous mistake of them all.

I get it.

You're excited to start your business.

You want to get your first clients.

You want to start generating revenue.

But skipping important compliance steps just to launch faster can create much bigger problems down the road.

Here's what I want every nurse to understand...

You CAN build a successful IV hydration or wellness business without trying to figure everything out on your own.

But you need to make sure you're building it on the RIGHT foundation.

Nurses, I wish you could see in yourselves what I see in you. ❤️

You care for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. You make tough decisions, solve problems, and carry responsibility that most people will never understand.

“What if nobody books?”
“What if I’m not good at this?”

𝗜 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗜𝗩 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀. 𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲.

Amarillo and Weatherford.

Texas is a CPOM state. Corporate practice of medicine.

Short version: who gets to own the medical side of a practice is restricted here, so clinics like mine run through an MSO/MSA with a physician-owned entity.

A nurse in Arizona doesn’t have to set it up that way. Arizona isn’t a CPOM state.

So when I’m scrolling the nurse business groups and somebody asks “what do I need to open an IV clinic?” I already know what’s coming.

Forty comments. Get an LLC. Get a medical director. Get insurance. My cousin did it in a weekend.

And not one person asks her what state she’s in.

That’s the first thing we ask every nurse who calls us, before we talk about anything else.’

The answer changes what she can own, how her medical director agreement gets written, and what has to be in place before she touches a patient.

I’m not knocking the groups. Nurses helping nurses is a good thing.

But “it worked for me” from a nurse in Scottsdale is not a compliance plan for a nurse in Fort Worth.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

I talk to nurses every week who've wanted to launch an IV business for a year or more.

They're not lazy. They're not scared of work. They've read everything.

That's the problem.

One Facebook group says one thing. A course says another. A nurse two states over swears by something that would never fly where you live.

So you freeze. Because the downside is your license.

Here are five things I hear constantly that are keeping good nurses on the sidelines:

𝟭. "You have to be an NP to own an IV business."

𝟮. "A medical director is a signature you rent."

𝟯. "If you're in a CPOM state like Texas or California, a nurse can't own anything."

𝟰. "Mobile IV is the easy way around the rules."

𝟱. "If it's working for the nurse in my Facebook group, it'll work in my state."

Every one of those is wrong, half right, or right in one state and wrong in the next.

What's true, what isn't, and what your state actually requires: medical director, MSO/MSA, standing orders, good faith exam, the whole stack.

We've done this with 1000+ nurses. The rules are real. They're also knowable.
