ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Weatherford is a 26-bed inpatient hospital that provides specialized rehabilitative services to patients living with disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other medically-complex conditions. We help you recover to your fullest abilities, providing a specialized

level of rehabilitative care that’s available only at medical rehabilitation hospitals. The hospital offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing, case management, respiratory therapy, dietary services, wound care management, orthotic and prosthetic services, and other specialized care. Ronny, from Millsap, Texas, came to ClearSky Weatherford for medical rehabilitation after sustaining a leg fracture that impacted his mobility and independence.

During his nine-day stay, Ronny worked alongside our physical and occupational therapy teams to rebuild his strength, improve his mobility, and regain the confidence needed to safely return home. Through his hard work, determination, and commitment to therapy, he successfully achieved his goal.

Surrounded by applause and encouragement from our team, we celebrated his accomplishment with a Flying High Clap Out. Congratulations, Ronny, on your well-earned success. We wish you continued strength and success on your recovery journey.

The right equipment can make a difference on the road to recovery.

Specialized bariatric equipment, including beds, lifts, wheelchairs, and mobility aids, help patients begin moving sooner, reducing the risk of falls and other complications while supporting a safer, faster recovery. It also promotes comfort, dignity, and independence, giving patients the confidence to actively participate in therapy and everyday activities. At the same time, it helps protect healthcare professionals by making patient transfers safer and less physically demanding.

Traveling this summer or during the holidays? Long car rides, flights, and heavy luggage can put extra strain on your back, but a few simple habits can help keep your spine comfortable.

Support your lower back with a lumbar pillow or rolled towel to maintain good posture while sitting. When lifting luggage, bend at your knees, not your waist, and keep bags close to your body. Packing light and using smaller bags can also reduce strain.

During your trip, take breaks to walk and stretch every 30 to 60 minutes when possible. While seated, gently shift positions or move your ankles to help circulation. Try to keep screens at eye level to avoid slouching.

After traveling, take a few minutes to walk and stretch before returning to normal activities. Small habits before, during, and after travel can go a long way in keeping your back comfortable.

Adaptive devices aren't just for people living with disabilities. They can make everyday tasks easier for anyone, including older adults, individuals recovering from injuries, or those experiencing temporary aches, stiffness, or mobility challenges.

Items such as reachers, electric can openers, adaptive utensils, grab bars, shower chairs, and motion-sensor nightlights can help with common daily activities like dressing, cooking, bathing, and moving around the home. Even smart home technology, such as voice-activated assistants and robot vacuums, can help simplify everyday tasks.

Occupational and physical therapists often recommend adaptive equipment to help people maintain independence and perform everyday activities more safely and comfortably. If you or a loved one could benefit from adaptive devices, talk with a healthcare professional to find solutions that fit your needs.

Recovery after joint replacement surgery is a gradual process that happens step by step, with support from physical and occupational therapy. Immediately following surgery, the focus is on safe movement, standing, and learning how to complete basic daily activities with support.

Over the next few weeks, patients typically begin walking with an assistive device, working on gentle strength training, and practicing everyday tasks like dressing, bathing, and toileting.

As recovery continues, therapy shifts toward building strength, balance, and endurance while increasing independence with daily routines and mobility. In the months that follow, the focus becomes more advanced strengthening, improving walking ability, and supporting a return to work, community activities, and full independence.

Recovery looks different for everyone, but the goal is the same at every stage: restoring mobility, confidence, and independence over time.
