William W. Talbott passed peacefully at Hubbard Hospice in Charleston, West Virginia, on August 31, 2026. He was born November 11, 1934, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, son of the late Reginald and Opal Talbott.

He was a proud graduate of Webster Springs High School, Potomac State College, and obtained his law degree from West Virginia University. He was a veteran of the Unites States Navy. Bill dedicated his entire career as an attorney serving Webster County as Prosecuting Attorney for many years, and as a well-respected defense and general practice attorney. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Webster Springs, and a long-standing member of Addison Lodge #116 AF & AM.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda B. Talbott; his parents, and brother, Joseph Talbott.

Bill is survived by his children, Bryan Talbott, Cynthia Hamrick (Gerald) and John Talbott (Evgenyia); grandchildren, Jordan Talbott (Nate Villar), Drew Talbott, Whitney Hamrick, Dane Hamrick, and Scout Hamrick, and two great-grandchildren, Jullian Villar and Jolene Villar. Also, surviving are sisters Jill Shaver, Mary Lopez, Martha Lipscomb, Sarah Hamrick, and Rebecca Jackson (Sheldon), as well as several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who will mourn his passing.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. His final resting place will be at the family camp on the Back Fork of Elk River, a place that held a special place in his heart.

Josephine E Totino Cogar, 83 of Sugar Creek departed this life Monday, August 24, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Josephine was born February 22, 1943 in Webster Springs to the late Fred Totino and Mabel Cowger Totino.

She was preceded in death by one son Vincent E. Cogar, her parents, son in law Bill Holleman, six siblings and her in-laws.

Josephine enjoyed baking and had also done some catering; she learned to cook at a very young age, baking her first bread at just 3 years old and at the age of 4 was making peanut butter candy. At 45 years old Josephine decided to go back to college and graduated with a Psychology Degree from Glenville State College.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years Garcie R. Cogar, son Bobby Cogar, Daughters Cathyrn “Lynn” (Mitchell) Gregory, Sharon Holleman of NC, Theresa (Mark) Burnside of Rock Cave, WV, Crisstina Cogar and Partner (Raymond Rodgers ) and Vivian Cogar of Webster Springs; stepson David (Kathy) Cogar of Webster Springs, and sister Kathleen Cogar of Florida; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and also numerous nieces and nephews .

As per her wishes a private service will take place at Dave Cogar Cemetery, Sugar Creek.

Charles Michael “Mike” Woods, 77 of Elkins, formerly of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2026 at WVU Hospital Ruby Memorial.

He was born October 1, 1948 in Webster Springs to the late Charles C. and Mary Margaret Losh.
Michael was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, enjoyed singing in the choir, and received the Deacon Emeritus for his many years of service to the Church. After moving to Elkins, Michael attended Beverly Methodist Church.

He loved reading his Bible, watching Gunsmoke, hunting, fishing and was a member of the Point Mountain Boys Quartet. He loved his daily text messages with his daughters. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He loved to tell stories and was known as the “Biggest Story Teller”. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Michael worked for 50 years for various mines including Peaker Run Coal, Julianna Coal, and Lady H Coal Mine. He was Owner and Operator of Mike Woods & Son Hardware for over 13 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving, devoted wife of 47 years Patricia Elkins Woods; daughters: Mary Gee, Terri (Kai) Ast, Carrie (Del) Herrington, and Shari Wince; son Mikey (Beth) Woods; sister Sarah (Phil) Sundstrom; aunts: Naomi Carpenter and Carol Rossa; 13 grandchildren; and many extended family, friends, and church family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Ron Moore officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs, with Committal Service by Pastor Dennis McCoy.

Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to service time, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, at the Funeral Home.

Richard Joe Allen “Dickie” Hamrick, 70 of Webster Springs and Mt. Holly, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 13, 1956 in Webster Springs to the late Joe Allen and Audra Lucille Williams Hamrick.

Dickie worked many years for Vulcan Materials as a loader operator and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Debra Smith Hamrick; daughter Erica Hamrick and granddaughter Kaylyn; step-children: Brandon (Laura) Sullivan and Michelle (Tyson) Lingerfelt and grandchildren: Maddie, Sydney, Rylie, Faith and Abigail; and many extended family and friends to mourn his passing.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs, with Pastor Gary Cogar officiating.

Our beautiful young lady, Stephanie Jo Carden went home to see her Mom, Grandma and PapPaw, Uncle Bob and stepdad Bobby, early Saturday morning, August 15, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV after a very brief illness. Death was very unexpected.

Stephanie Jo, 53 years old, was a resident of Richwood, WV.

She was born Tuesday, May 15, 1973, at Richwood, WV the only child of the late Norma Ann Nicholas Jordan. Surviving is her loving companion of six years, Jerry Hammons of Richwood; one brother, Uncle Johnny B. “Butch” Nicholas of Richwood; one sister, Aunt Gloria S. “Cookie” Nicholas-Brown of Elkins; one uncle, Stephen D. “Steve” Nicholas, of Richwood; one great uncle, Clellan Nicholas and wife Shirley of Diamond, OH; lifelong friend, Mike Tharp of Craigsville; good friends, Donnie Mullens of Webster Springs, Tim Holcomb of Richwood; her beloved puppy, Gypsy Rose; and her beloved kitten, Milo.

Preceding her in death are maternal grandparents, Orbie and Wanda P. Marshall Nicholas; one uncle, Robert “Bob” Nicholas. and stepdad, Robert “Bobby” Jordan.

Stephanie Jo was a graduate of Richwood High School, with the Class of 1991 and attended Glenville State College. She enjoyed being a home health aide for several years. She loved all animals. Stephanie Jo “WeeWee” was such a fun person, but she could not keep a secret-just ask Uncle Butch. She liked spending time hunting, walking and country rides with Uncle Butch.

Stephanie Jo will always be loved and greatly missed by her family. She will never be forgotten. Stephanie Jo was the pride and joy of her family and always will be.

Friends may call at the White Funeral Home in Summersville, WV on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Keith Williams will officiate, and interment will follow in the Fields Cemetery at Nettie.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
