How many black dots did you count?

The answer is zero. Every dot is white.

The dark dots seem to appear because your brain is interpreting the contrast between the black squares and white lines. Look directly at any one dot and it becomes white again.

Your eyes collect visual information, but your brain plays an essential role in how you experience it.

Drop the number you counted before swiping to the answer.

Myth or fact: Reading in dim light ruins your eyes.

Myth. Low light can make your eyes work harder and may leave them feeling tired, strained, or uncomfortable, but it doesn’t cause lasting damage.

If your eyes are feeling the effects of long reading sessions or extended screen time, try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Still experiencing frequent eye strain or headaches? It may be time to look beyond the lighting.

Cataracts often develop gradually. Changes can be subtle enough that they’re mistaken for an outdated prescription or simply getting older.

Increasing glare while driving at night, halos around lights, faded colors, needing brighter light to read, or frequent prescription changes may all be worth discussing with your eye doctor.

If cataract surgery becomes the right next step, your care continues afterward. Using prescribed drops correctly, protecting your eye, avoiding restricted activities, and attending follow-up visits all support the healing process.

Dr. Kelly Farrar provides cataract evaluations and postoperative care at OcuSight Greece, helping patients understand what to expect before and after surgery.

New to contact lenses? The right start makes a difference.

Your first fitting is about more than finding your prescription. Your provider will measure your eyes, assess how the lenses sit and move, and help you practice inserting and removing them safely.

A follow-up visit gives you a chance to talk about comfort, clarity, and how the lenses are working in everyday life.

Glaucoma can begin damaging the optic nerve before you notice a change in your vision.

A comprehensive glaucoma evaluation may include measuring the pressure inside your eyes, examining and imaging the optic nerve, and testing your peripheral vision. Together, these results give your provider a more complete picture than any single measurement can provide.

Regular eye care is especially important if you have a family history of glaucoma, diabetes, elevated eye pressure, or other risk factors identified by your provider.

Early detection can help protect the vision you have.
