We are a non-profit comfort care home, committed to providing compassionate, no-cost end-of-life care to our residents and their families.

A non-profit, community-based comfort care home, committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to the terminally ill, and their families, in a home like atmosphere. WCCHIt is our desire to allow our residents to live in a warm, loving home-like atmosphere of support and encouragement during their final months of life. We believe in the Hospice philosophy of care: all persons have the right to die with dignity, to have an enhanced quality of life for the remainder of their days, and to be as comfortable and pain free as possible. Webster Comfort Care is a comprehensive and compassionate 2-bed home for the dying in the Webster community. It is a true home-like atmosphere, not a health care facility or a hospital. We ascribe to the hospice philosophy of care that states that all persons have the right to die with dignity, to have enhanced quality of life, and to be as comfortable as possible. Our primary goal is to provide comfort care, symptom control and pain management for our residents, as well as to be a source of respite care for the families.

Love doesn’t end when life does.

At Webster Comfort Care Home, we understand that loving someone through the end of their life is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking journeys a person can experience.

There is grief in the quiet moments, in the words left unsaid, and in knowing that time together is precious. Yet, even in the midst of heartbreak, there is love — in every hand held, every smile shared, every memory made, and every moment spent simply being together.

Our hearts are with the families who walk this tender journey, loving deeply while preparing to say goodbye. May you find comfort in knowing that every moment of love matters, and that the memories you create will always be a part of you.

Thank you to Daughter Of An Angel for these beautiful and deeply moving words that remind us of the incredible power of love, even in the face of loss.

On Thursday, October 22nd, we had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful volunteers with a special catered appreciation dinner!

Our volunteers are the heart of Webster Comfort Care Home, and we truly couldn’t do what we do without them. Their compassion, dedication, and generosity make such a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and their families. We are so grateful for each and every one of them!

A special thank you to Bad To The Bone BBQ for catering a delicious dinner and to Julie Uetz, Sweet Shenanigans and Juju's Sweet Tooth for making the delicious desserts!

We’re kicking off our 5th Annual Souper Bowl, and the countdown to soup season is officially on! A big touchdown-sized thank you to Mama Lor's Cafe for returning for another season and being our first draft pick with their popular Italian Wedding soup! We’re so grateful to have you back on the roster!

Our restaurant lineup is heating up, and we can’t wait to bring you another winning season of delicious soups from some amazing area restaurants.

At WCCH, our volunteers make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and their families. This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Deb and Nancy, two wonderful, long-time volunteers who share a passion for providing compassionate care.

After retiring from a career in floral design, Deb wanted to volunteer at WCCH to experience the positive impact of hospice care. Her favorite part of volunteering is spending time with fellow volunteers, residents, and staff. One of the most meaningful parts of her experience has been hearing the many life stories residents share.

Deb encourages others to volunteer, saying that people can benefit from volunteering in any way, especially when they start at an early age.

Volunteering is a family tradition for Nancy! Inspired by her mom, who volunteered for many years, and encouraged by her sister (also a WCCH volunteer), Nancy decided to join the WCCH family. A retired nurse who previously worked in hospice, Nancy finds the greatest joy in supporting residents and families during this important time in their journey.

For Nancy, the most rewarding moments are those when she can see the difference she has made. She also appreciates how the volunteers and staff have become like family. Nancy recognizes Angela (Nurse Coordinator), Julianne (Executive Director), Lucy (Volunteer Coordinator), and Lisa (Program Coordinator) for their dedication to the Home and for creating a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.

The Story Behind Our Front Porch: A Legacy of Love

The idea for our front porch began with the Drechsler. Both their mother and father spent their final days at Webster Comfort Care Home, and the family wanted a private, peaceful place to gather and talk without disturbing others in the Home.

Brother Steve played an instrumental role in bringing this vision to life, securing donated materials from SRS Distribution, Inc., while Best Construction of Wayne County generously provided the labor at a minimal cost. An appeal was also made to former families and donors, inviting them to be part of this special project.

To recognize and thank those who contributed, Drew Perry Landscape created a beautiful memorial walkway featuring engraved bricks, along with new garden beds to enhance the peaceful surroundings. A memorial cornerstone was also installed in one of the garden beds, creating a lasting tribute to the love and generosity behind this project.

On September 29, just before our annual Their Light Shines memorial event, we dedicated the porch and these special additions to the Home.

What began as a family's heartfelt way of saying thank you for the love and care shown to their parents has grown into something truly meaningful. The front porch is more than just a place to sit. It is a place for families to gather, share memories, have meaningful conversations, and find comfort during some of life's most difficult moments.

A family's gratitude has blossomed into a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and community that will continue to touch the lives of families for years to come.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Drechsler family, SRS Distribution, Best Construction, Drew Perry Landscape, and all the families and donors who helped make this beautiful vision a reality. Your generosity has created something that will mean so much to so many.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has donated items to keep our shelves well-stocked! Your kindness and generosity mean so much to us and help make the Home a warm, welcoming place for our residents and their loved ones.

Sometimes, kind words and simple gestures mean more than words can ever express.

We were so touched to receive these beautiful gifts from a recent resident’s family—a wooden angel, cardinal ornament, and lovely orchid. Each gift is such a thoughtful expression of appreciation, and we feel truly blessed to have been thought of in such a special way.

Along with these beautiful gifts, we received the most heartfelt words. The message touched us deeply, and we'd love to share it with you:

“Dearest all of the amazing and beautiful caregivers at WCCH,

There are too many of you to thank individually, but please know that each of you made a positive impact on how we walked our last weeks with my aunt.

Your endless love, compassion, and care will never be forgotten!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was a privilege to care for C. and to support your family along the way. Knowing that our love and care made a difference during such a difficult time is a gift in itself.

Volunteer Spotlight: Tracey & Anne

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on two wonderful members of our volunteer family, Tracey and Anne! While they preferred not to have their photos taken, they graciously shared some reflections about what volunteering at WCCH means to them.

Anne’s connection to WCCH began when her aunt was a resident. She saw firsthand what a positive experience it was for her aunt and her daughters, which inspired Anne to give back by volunteering herself. Anne said:

“I love the interactions with the residents, their families, and the other volunteers and staff.”

After a 36-year career at Bausch + Lomb, Anne now spends some of her time making meaningful connections with the people she meets at WCCH. Her most memorable moments have been conversations with residents that have stayed with her — sharing “such good insights into people.”

After retiring as a special education teacher, Tracey was looking for a meaningful way to volunteer. A friend who volunteers at WCCH encouraged her to give it a try, telling her it was “right up my alley.”

Tracey especially enjoys spending time chatting with residents and providing thoughtful care that makes them feel special — even something as simple as a shampoo. She also loves getting to know residents’ families.

One particularly special memory was bringing her dog to visit when he was just a puppy. He brought so much joy to a family member during a difficult transition.

We are so grateful to Anne and Tracey for the time, compassion and kindness they share with our residents and families. Thank you for being such an important part of the WCCH community!
