Coalwood Volunteer Fire Department consists of volunteers that are on call 24/7 to respond to Structure Fires , Motor Vehicle Accidents , and First Responds to Medical Alarms , Also CVFD does its best to support the Community needs and provides the Comfort of knowing that We are always there for them ! We are surrounded by Two Departments War and Welch Fire Departments that are excellent Fire Departments , that provide Mutual Aid for us and us for them !

At 0003 hours, Coalwood VFD was toned out for a MVA on Coalwood mtn. 202 Utility 1 and 202 Rescue 1 responded with 2 firefighters. Wv State Police, Mcdowell Sheriff's office and Smoke Towing also responded.

At 0526 hours this morning, 202 was paged out for EMS assist on Rocket Boys Dr in Coalwood.

At 2104 hrs, station 202 was toned out for a vehicle fire on the Coalwood side of Coalwood mtn. Utility 1 and Engine 1 responded with 6 firefighters. Welch FD was also toned out but was canceled enroute. WV State Police and Smoke Towing also responded.

At approximately 1305 hours on Thursday, CVFD was paged out for an MVA on Coalwood Mtn. 202 Utility 1 and Rescue 1 responded with 3 firefighters. No MVA was found but 2 cell phones and a debit card were recovered out of the road. If you have any information about the cell phones and debit card, contact the 911 center or the Mcdowell Co. Sheriff's Office.

At 0152 hours Station 202 was paged out for mutual aid with War FD in the Shop Hollow section of War. 202 Utility 1 and Engine 2 responded with 4 firefighters. Berwind Station 203 and STAT ambulance also responded.

At 0450 hrs this morning 202 CVFD was paged out for mutual aid for Berwind VFD. Upon arrival the structure was fully involved. War Fd, Anawalt FD, Bishops VA Fire Dept and Abbs Valley VA FD also responded. Scene was clear at approximately 0800.

At approximately 1519 hours Station 202 was toned out for a 2 car MVA on Caretta Mtn. 202 responded with 1 truck and 4 firefighters. Greg's Wrecker, Jan Care Ambulance and the Mcdowell Sheriff Dept also responded.
