Christmas in July? Yes please! This week's weather prompted a "cook out - eat in" event, but we had great fun with our Christmas-themed BBQ featuring Turkey Burgers and Cranberry Slaw, Tree-shaped Watermelon slices, and Ice Cream balls with coconut aka "snowballs"! Add Christmas tunes and fun props to gathering with friends and we had a lovely luncheon!

We recently installed two Peace Poles that were carefully crafted over many months by residents from Marillac Residence and Elizabeth Seton Residence. Led by our Chaplains, the project culminated in a beautiful ceremony blessing the Peace Poles. "May Peace Prevail On Earth" was lovingly painted in multiple languages, inviting contemplation and prayer as you pass. One is in front of Marillac Residence, the other by the Elizabeth Seton patio.

Our ESR Garden Club finished our planting before the heat rolled in. Thanks to last year's grant from the Wellesley Hills Junior Women's Club we had additional raised gardening space to work with this year, and hope to harvest lots of herbs for special summer cooking projects!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Elizabeth Seton Residence has been selected as one of 150 nonprofits to receive funding through the Cummings Foundation's annual grant program. Chosen through a competitive review process that drew a record 959 applicants, we will receive $150,000 over three years!

Summer was on our minds this week as we celebrated the warm weather with our traditional Memorial Day Cookout. We enjoyed gathering in the courtyard with our friends from Marillac Residence along with our fellow residents, rehab patients and staff.

Moments in Bloom is this year's skilled nursing care week theme - prompting some gardening activities. We custom-painted plant pots then filled them with succulents. These low-maintenance plant buddies look great in our rooms!

National Nursing Home Week has been busy from start to finish! Day One: Mothers Day started the celebration with "grab and go" brunch treats and coffee for our visitors to share, flowers for our Moms, Aunts, and Grandmothers, and still more flowers for all those fabulous ESR staff Moms who provide TLC to our residents every day!

We enjoyed a festive Cinco de Mayo celebration today, with great food and a wonderful mariachi band! We joined our friends from Marillac Residence and had a fun afternoon.
