Many adults believe that staying active through tennis, pickleball, golf, or walking is enough to protect their health.
But here’s the reality:
Being active is not the same as building strength.
This year, my mom progressed from osteopenia to osteoporosis despite playing sports almost every day. That experience became a powerful reminder that movement alone is not enough to maintain bone health.
Research consistently shows that bones need:
✔️ Resistance training
✔️ Weight-bearing exercises
✔️ Progressive overload
Without targeted strength training, bone density can continue to decline even in highly active individuals.
Strength training does more than improve bones. It also helps:
• Reduce fall risk
• Improve balance and stability
• Increase muscle mass
• Support long-term independence
That’s why at ABL Fitness, programs like Stronger for Life focus on training with purpose not just movement, but building strength that supports longevity and quality of life.
Because no matter how active you are, everyone needs strength training. 💪
