Instead of resigning your fate to eczema, hereā€™s what to know ā¤µļø

Itā€™s not dry skin. Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. It looks like irritated, flakey, red and scaled patches that often thicken from scratching.

šŸ’› It can affect comfort, confidence, sleep and your everyday routine. But we want you to know that with the right approach to care, you manage eczema and find relief.

In fact, the most common is atopic dermatitis, but there are several different types of eczema and every personā€™s skin presents differently.

This is why itā€™s so important to have your skin and symptoms evaluated by a dermatologist who can help determine your triggers, and the best individual treatment approach.

Eczema flareups often occur as seasons shift, so book an appointment this Fall in our office!

šŸ“£ Weā€™re thrilled to announce that Dr. Lindsay McCormack, MD is now seeing patients!!

Dr. McCormack is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship Trained Pediatric Dermatologist. From newborns to adults, she provides compassionate, patient-centered care for a wide range of skin conditions.

šŸŽ“ She earned her medical degree from UMass Chan Medical School, where she then went on to complete her dermatology residency.

Following residency, she went on to complete an additional fellowship in pediatric dermatology where she received specialized training alongside world-renowned experts in rare pediatric skin conditions.

āœØDr. McCormack believes that effective care goes beyond treating symptomsā€”she partners with patients and families to create personalized, thoughtful care plans that improve overall quality of life.

That partnership looks different depending on whoā€™s in the chair. With younger patients, it might mean taking extra time to explain a diagnosis in terms a child can understand, or working with parents to find a treatment routine that actually fits their familyā€™s life.

With adults, it often means listening closely before recommending anything, because the same condition can affect two people very differently.

āœØ While sheā€™ll be seeing patients of all ages, her additional training specializing in the pediatric population makes her an extraordinary addition to the clinic!

šŸ—“ļø Dr. McCormackā€™s schedule is now OPEN. ā˜Žļø To request an appointment with her, call the office or head or head to link in bio.

If you know you know šŸ¤ā€¦

Retinol has earned its place as a non-negotiable in daily skincare routines!

Why? Because itā€™s scientifically proven, multi-tasking ingredients work at a cellular level to fundamentally transform skin structure.

Unlike other products that only sit on the surface, retinoids bind to specific skin receptors and instruct older cells to behave like younger cells (we love that, right šŸ˜‰).

We often hear retinol can be intimidatingā€”it has a reputation for being powerful but tricky to use.

āœØThatā€™s why weā€™re here to help our patients find the right retinal product to match their specific skin needs. Come check out our product tester bar and get all of your questions answered.

Your Fall To Doā€™s ā¤µļø

Kids are back to school, September is in full swing and calendars are filling up!

So make sure you got these scheduled:

šŸ—“ļø ANNUAL SKIN CHECK: Time for a full body skin cancer examination.

An ideal time to evaluate and address any changes or damage caused by increased sun exposure during the summer. Plus, cool weather can make post-biopsy or minor surgical care simpler, as you deal with less sweating and .direct UV rays.

šŸ—“ļø LASER TREATMENTS: Fall is laser season!

The ideal time to address and reverse the effects of sun damage using resurfacing lasers to reset your complexion. Did someone say Fraxel?!

Many treatments require multiple sessions spaced apart, so starting in the fall allows for the full series of treatments and to heal completely.

šŸ—“ļø ACNE MEDICATIONS

Teen & pre-teen acne can often improve over the summer due to lower stress, but resurge in September. Letā€™s get your kids seen and their prescriptions refilled to keep acne under control.

Teens looking to start medication: results arenā€™t instant so a treatment plan in September or October allows your childā€™s skin to progress past irritation & purging stages in time for holidays!

Expectations for healing after Mohs Surgery ā¤µļø

Dr. Tiffany Sun, M.D. Ph.D is a double board-certified dermatologist practicing medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology here at DermWellesley. She has extensive training and specializes in Mohs surgery and cosmetic facial reconstruction.

Most common after surgery are swelling and bruising, which peaks 1-2 days after surgery. instructed time.

Youā€™ll also want to take it easy for about a week after surgery and avoid performing exercises or activities that increase your heart rate and blood pressure, as this can cause the wound to open up or bleed.

Two key considerations for long term healing:

ā–ŖļøProtection From The Sun: Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher once the wound heals to prevent dark scars.

ā–ŖļøBe Patient With Scars: Complete scar remodeling and fading takes time and care.

Weā€™re always here to answer any questions that you have, so feel free to reach out!
