Change of plans for tomorrow! 🐴
The Angel Haven Horse Rescue show at Carlisle scheduled for tomorrow has been canceled, so I will not be setting up as planned.
I was looking forward to seeing everyone, but we’ll catch you at the next one! ❤️
In the meantime, if your horse was hoping for a little acupuncture, spinal manipulation, laser therapy, or holistic TLC, you can always reach out to schedule an appointment.

More learning ahead! ✈️🐾

I'll be heading down to Florida soon for the first in-person portion of my Certified Myofascial and Manual Therapy Veterinarian program at Chi University!

Continuing education has always been a big part of Divergent DVM. I'm excited to add even more hands-on techniques for assessing and treating fascia, muscles, movement, and the interconnected causes of pain and dysfunction in my patients.

This does mean I'll be out of the "office" for a few days while I'm in Florida learning and getting some hands-on practice of my own.

And because apparently leaving town also means meal-prepping for my dogs... 😂

Today's project was making them their own "lunchables" so they'll be well taken care of while I'm gone: chicken hearts and gizzards, beef liver, chicken feet, whole dried herring fish, freeze-dried pork and fish, mushroom treats, yogurt and cranberry treats, carrots, and a little fresh basil from the garden.

They're clearly going to suffer terribly in my absence. 😂🐕

I'm really excited about this next addition to my integrative toolbox and can't wait to bring what I learn back home to my patients. 🌿🐾

🐴 September Horse Appointments Available

I have a limited number of openings for new horse appointments in September before my regular October rechecks begin.
If your barn is within about an hour of Wellington, I'm happy to travel. For barns farther from home, I ask that groups coordinate 4 or more horses whenever possible.

Upcoming events:
📍 Carlisle Metroparks Equestrian Center– August 9
📍 NBHA @ Lorain County Fairgrounds – September 11–12
📍 Lewis Road Show Ring– September 20

Message me if you'd like to reserve a September appointment.

A Small Update from Divergent DVM
When I started Divergent DVM, my goal was simple: to provide thorough, personalized veterinary care in the comfort of your home or at your farm—without the stress of loading up your animals or rushing through appointments.
Over the past few years, I have been incredibly grateful to watch this practice grow. Because of your trust and support, I now have the privilege of traveling throughout Ohio to care for so many wonderful patients and families.
As a mobile veterinarian, I spend countless hours on the road each week. Along with travel comes the cost of fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance, continuing education, advanced equipment, and the many behind-the-scenes expenses required to provide high-quality mobile veterinary care.
Several years ago, when I transitioned to an exclusively mobile practice, I eliminated travel fees to keep my pricing simple and predictable. I remain committed to that philosophy today.

Beginning October 1, 2026, my small animal appointment fee will increase from $260 per hour to $300 per hour.
For most appointments, this represents approximately a $10 increase.

🐶 Small Animal: $300 per hour
🐴 Equine: $200 per horse (no change)
There will continue to be no travel or mileage fees.

This adjustment allows me to continue providing the individualized, unhurried care that has always been the foundation of Divergent DVM while investing in the education, equipment, and resources that help me provide the best possible care for your animals.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your pets' and horses' lives. I truly appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to serve you and your animals for many years to come.
With gratitude,
Dr. Lisa Fox

As a veterinarian who spends much of my time evaluating equine movement and performance, I spend a lot of time looking at how horses move—not just whether they're winning ribbons.
Every movement asks something of a horse's body. Some movement patterns allow the spine to lift, the hindquarters to engage, and the joints to move efficiently. Others place more strain on the forehand, limit engagement from behind, and create compensation throughout the body.
My goal isn't to criticize any discipline. Every discipline has trends that can either help or hinder a horse's long-term soundness. Instead, I encourage riders to ask one simple question:
"Is the way my horse is moving something I would want them doing for the next 10 years?"
Healthy biomechanics should promote balance, strength, and longevity—not simply achieve a particular look in the show pen.
Listen Before Lameness™ isn't just about finding pain. It's about recognizing movement patterns before they become problems.

Food is more than calories.
It's the raw material your pet uses to build Qi, Blood, and Body Fluids.
Before we ask, "What medication does my pet need?" I also ask, "Does the body have what it needs to heal?"

🐴 Calling all exhibitors, trainers, and horse show enthusiasts!
One of my goals for this fall and winter is to become involved with more equestrian events throughout Ohio by providing on-site holistic veterinary care and educational opportunities.
If you compete at, organize, or volunteer with a horse show, schooling series, breed show, or equestrian event that you think would be a good fit, I'd love an introduction!
I offer mobile holistic veterinary services, including: ✨ Acupuncture ✨ Spinal manipulation ✨ Laser therapy ✨ TCVM evaluations ✨ Food therapy & herbal recommendations ✨ Rehabilitation guidance
Whether it's a local schooling show, a winter series, a breed show, or a performance event, I'm always happy to explore ways to support exhibitors and their horses.
If you know an event organizer, barn owner, trainer, or show manager who might be interested, please tag them below or send me a message. Some of my best opportunities have come from referrals, and I truly appreciate every introduction!
Thank you for helping me continue to grow Divergent DVM while supporting Ohio's horse community.

🍂 Now Booking Fall & Winter Barn Days & Winter Lunch & Learns! 🐴

It may only be July, but my schedule is already booking into September, so I've officially started planning my fall and winter routes.

As many horses transition to maintenance appointments during the colder months, I begin organizing my winter schedule now so I can continue serving my current clients while welcoming new barns along the way.

I'm also now booking Winter Lunch & Learns—one of my favorite ways to combine education, great conversation, and good food!

Each Lunch & Learn includes:
🐴 A relaxed, interactive discussion on holistic veterinary medicine and how I approach equine cases.
🐴 Two horses receive complete holistic evaluations and treatments (essentially full appointments) while everyone follows along, asks questions, and learns how I assess each horse and develop a treatment plan.
🐴 Demonstrations may include acupuncture, spinal manipulation, laser therapy, TCVM assessment, rehabilitation exercises, food therapy, and more, depending on the individual horses.
🥪 Lunch for 15 catered from Bread & Brew in Wellington, along with tea, coffee, and a few sweet treats, so everyone can relax, learn, and enjoy the afternoon together.

Additional horses may be scheduled for individual appointments following the Lunch & Learn, making it a great opportunity to combine education with a barn day.

If you've been thinking about hosting a Winter Lunch & Learn or would like to get your barn on my fall or winter schedule, now is a great time to reach out before the calendar fills.

I always look forward to spending the quieter winter months helping horse owners better understand their horses while enjoying good food, great conversation, and plenty of questions.
