🌊 BALANCE ON ANY TERRAIN 🌊
Beach walks and summer adventures are fun, but uneven surfaces like sand challenge your balance in ways flat ground can’t.

Your body relies on 3 systems working together to keep you steady:
👀Visual system
👂🏼Vestibular system
🦶🏽Somatosensory system

When one system isn’t pulling its weight, the
others have to work harder. Conditions like peripheral neuropathy can make uneven surfaces feel unpredictable and increase your risk of losing balance.
The good news? Balance can be trained!

Physical therapy helps strengthen all three systems so you can move confidently on sidewalks, trails, and shorelines all summer long. ☀️🏖️

💦 MYTH BUSTED: More sweat = better workout. Not always!

Sweating is your body’s way of cooling down—not a measure of how hard you’re working or how effective your workout is. 🏋🏼‍♀️🧘🏻‍♂️

You could do the same exact exercise in a sauna🔥 vs. a freezing room🧊and get the same strength and calorie benefits… just a very different amount of sweat. 👀😅

At CBMW, we don’t chase sweat—we chase results.
✔️ Strength
✔️ Stability
✔️ Control
✔️ Confidence

Because the goal isn’t to leave drenched—
it’s to leave better than you came in. 💪⭐️

Calories = energy ⚡️That part is simple.🫐

But here’s where it gets interesting 👇
All calories provide the same AMOUNT of energy…but they do very different things for your body.

🍓 100 calories of fruit → packed with vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, and hydration that support digestion, immunity, and overall health
🍪 100 calories of cookies → quick energy, but minimal nutrients and, in excess, can contribute to things like blood sugar spikes and higher cholesterol

So while the number is the same… the value is not.

Your body isn’t just counting calories, it’s responding to the nutrients, quality, and function of what you eat. 🥕🍔

Real, sustainable change comes from shifting the mindset from:
➡️ “How many calories is this?”
to
➡️ “What is this food doing for my body?”

Fuel with intention. Eat with awareness. Feel the difference 💪✨🍎

And they’re off… in the CBMW Gait Speed Derby! 🏇At the finish line, it’s not just about who’s fastest; gait speed tells us a lot about safety and functional independence!🏃🏽‍♀️

Here’s how the race stacks up:🥇 1.1 m/s → Ready to cross the street safely 🥈 1.0 m/s → Key cutoff for decreased fall risk🥉 0.8 m/s → Threshold for community mobility🐎 0.6 m/s → Limited community ambulator🐢 0.4 m/s → Higher risk of hospitalization + needs assistance for fall prevention

The takeaway? Gait speed isn’t just about being fast - it’s about being safe, independent, and confident in your daily life. ⭐️

No matter where you start, skilled training can help you move up in the standings. Every step gets you closer to the winner’s circle. 🏆🌹

Powerful movements. POWERFUL impact!! 💥🙌🏼
Our PEP class is putting in the work across a variety of movements—all with a BIG focus. Using PWR! Principles, we emphasize large amplitude movements to help counteract the smaller, slower patterns that can come with Parkinson’s.

From sit-to-stands🪑,to stepping🦵🏼, reaching🤚🏼, and posture resets, every rep is intentional: move bigger, stand taller, and build power💪🏽These exaggerated movements translate directly into everyday life—helping with walking, balance, and getting up and down with more ease and confidence. 👏🏼

For those with Parkinson’s, training BIG isn’t just exercise—it’s a way to improve mobility, maintain independence, and reduce fall risk.

Progress happens through consistency. Keep persevering!
