In observance of Labor Day, Rainbow Pediatric Clinic will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, so our team can spend time with their families. 🇺🇸✨

We will reopen for regular office hours on Tuesday, September 8.

If your child experiences a medical emergency during the holiday, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room. For non-urgent inquiries or appointment requests, please message us through our patient portal, and we will follow up when we return.

School is back — and so are the germs.
🦠 The single most effective way to keep your child healthy this school year?

Hand washing. Not hand sanitizer. Not a quick rinse. Actual soap-and-water, 20-second, sing-the-happy-birthday-song-twice hand washing. 🎵 Teach your child WHEN to wash:

✅ Before eating
✅ After the bathroom
✅ After recess or PE
✅ After blowing their nose
✅ When they get home

Pro tip: put a fun soap dispenser in their bathroom to make it more exciting. Tiny habit, HUGE impact. 🧼

If your child has asthma or allergies, back-to-school means more than just new supplies.

🎒 Before the first bell rings:
📋 Make sure the school nurse has an updated action plan
💊 Check that rescue inhalers and EpiPens are in date (they expire!)
📞 Schedule a pre-school asthma check-up so we can adjust the plan if needed
🏫 Notify teachers AND the front office about known allergens. Classroom dust, chalk, pollen, and cafeteria foods can all be triggers.

Here's the American Academy of Pediatrics guidance (updated!):
🚫 Under 18 months: no screen time except video chatting
⏱️ Ages 2–5: 1 hour per day of high-quality programming
📋 Ages 6+: consistent limits on time AND content, prioritizing sleep, physical activity, and homework first.

The goal isn't zero screens — it's intentional use.

Create a "family media plan" together and post it somewhere visible. When kids help make the rules, they're more likely to follow them. 😉
