This health professional was lifting when he felt a pop and pain as he ruptured his distal biceps.
We immediately ultrasounded his elbow to confirm the diagnosis and took him to the operating room two days later.

Utilizing a small three centimeter incision, I obtained the biceps, whipstitched the tissue with a FiberLoop, used a titanium BicepsButton implant with a tension slide technique, and backed it up with a biocomposite tenodesis screw.
This is the strongest fixation device on the market and this technique reliably repairs the biceps with minimal trauma to rest of the elbow anatomy.

He had full range of motion within two weeks and was back working out in the gym.
At ten weeks he was doing biceps curls, pull ups, and had made a complete recovery.

New Baseball Card!!!

The United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL powered by UWM), has chosen the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) as the official healthcare provider of the developmental league for Major League Baseball. DMC’s orthopedic and sports medicine physicians and DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan’s athletic trainers will provide comprehensive medical support to players throughout the season.

Over fifty USPBL players have been signed by major league organizations and five players have played in Major League Baseball.

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

This former college soccer player tore her Achilles tendon.

She tore her other Achilles tendon years ago and had it fixed the traditional way; with a large open incision, multiple suture knots, many post-operative months on crutches, and over a year long recovery.

She is also now a sports medicine physician assistant and knew some surgeons repair the Achilles tendon with a newer superior method.

We repaired her Achilles with the Arthrex PARS technique; the same minimally invasive 1.5 cm incision, knotless suture mechanism that anchors into her calcaneus bone that professional athletes like Jason Tatum, Kevin Durant, Aaron Rodgers have had.

She worked hard with physical therapy and was putting weight on it two weeks after surgery, walking normally without a boot in six weeks, and began jogging in under three months.

Saturday night the Baltimore Ravens selected my patient Rayshaun Benny in the NFL draft.

I’ve treated Rayshaun since he was at Oak Park high school in Detroit and watched as he won a national championship at Michigan and now will play at the next level.

I’m excited to see him continue his success on Sundays this fall.
