On Tuesday, July 28, the West Essex First Aid Squad responded to a fire in Caldwell during a rainstorm. At fires, the squad will treat any injuries and provide rehab to the firefighters. Thank you to ShopRite for providing all the bottled water that we provide to firefighters at working fire scenes.

It is with deep sadness that the West Essex First Aid Squad announces the passing of Life Dispatcher Member Terrie Peterson. Terrie served the squad as a dispatcher for more than 35 years as well as serving as an EMT for more than 13 years.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Garrett Jones Memorial Home at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, New Jersey, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will be private.

Terrie will be sorely missed.

Despite the heatwave, we had a great time hanging out with the community last night at Fairfield's Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks.

We wanted to remind everyone that these high temperatures can be dangerous! Please remember to stay hydrated, wear breathable clothing, use sunscreen, and listen to your body! We are always here if you need us, but we would prefer you didn't have to meet us while you're out enjoying the holiday weekend 🇺🇲
