President Michael Conway recently returned from attending the 58th International Association of Fire Fighters Convention in Arlington, Texas. This convention is held every two years and fire fighters and emergency medical workers from across the United States and Canada gathered August 9th to the 14th. This was the first ever IAFF Convention that a member of the Goshen Professional Fire Fighters Association was able to attend. A very special thank you goes to the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association for funding a majority of this expenditure through a recently re-instituted lottery system in which GPFFA was fortunate enough to win last year.

President Conway noted the great relationships we have with our neighboring locals who were also in attendance at the IAFF Convention, specifically Upper Darby L-2493 and Reading L-1803 from the southeast Pennsylvania region. President Conway also got to see Joe Love receive a leadership award from the IAFF for his time spent serving and representing the fire fighters from the Philadelphia Naval Yard Local F-61. During our associations infancy, Joe was a steadfast attendee at the Del Val Association meetings where he was always supporting the existing and newly formed area locals. President Conway also made many connections with other fire fighters from across the country including Alexandria, VA, Richmond, VA, and Newfoundland, Canada!!

This afternoon, crews responded to Wellington Independent Living after the fire alarm system was activated.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a smoke condition on the third floor caused by a cooking-related incident. Crews quickly confirmed there was no fire extension and placed multiple ventilation fans into service to remove smoke from the large affected area.

Thanks to the rapid response of our personnel and the building's fire alarm system, the situation was safely resolved, and residents were able to return to normal activities.
