Southwest Ohio Pain Institute

Southwest Ohio Pain Institute Helping you live pain-free through precision care, innovative treatments and compassion. Pain is the most disruptive symptom.

From minimally invasive procedures to regenerative therapies, our Cincinnati-based clinic is redefining pain management. We believe that treating acute pain at its onset prevents in developing severe chronic pain syndromes. Patients having chronic pain may also improve the quality of their lives and also perform better if their pain is under control. Our philosophy is to provide compassionate care

for pain patients and to prevent long term problems of addicting medications, and avoid the need for unnecessary surgeries. We achieve these goals by a multidisciplinary approach including a balanced medication regimen, physical therapy and an interventional and psychological treatment program

She'd been carrying it in her purse for four years. Not medication. Something else.

A folded list. Every doctor she'd seen. Every test that came back normal. She'd stopped showing it to anyone β€” nobody had asked. We ask. And we actually read the list.

Celebrating Dr. Muhammad Munir today! πŸŽ‰

Grateful for his leadership, his dedication to patients, and the genuine care he brings to this practice every day. Here’s to another year β€” celebrated with the people (and person) who mean the most to him.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Munir!

10 years ago, Joyce joined the SWOPI team. A decade later, she's one of the steady, familiar faces patients see visit after visit β€” the kind of consistency that matters when you're trusting someone with your care for years, not just one appointment.

Congratulations, Joyce, and thank you for 10 years of dedication to our patients and this practice.

She didn't tell us what changed. She just started bringing her golf clubs to every appointment.

A full round. No cart required. First time in three years.

This is what "Again." means to us β€” not a testimonial, a return. The version of life pain took from you, coming back.

Two doctors missed it. The third one asked one different question.

Not "how bad is the pain" β€” "what position makes it worse." That single answer pointed toward the actual source. Small differences in the questions we ask lead to very different diagnoses.

Ask SWOPI: Does weather actually affect pain, or is that just an old wives' tale?

There's real science behind it β€” barometric pressure changes can affect joint tissue and inflammation, especially in areas already dealing with pain. But if weather is the only thing determining a good day versus a bad one, that's often a sign there's still an underlying source worth diagnosing properly.

She almost didn't mention it. It was the whole reason she came in.

"It's probably nothing" is one of the most common things we hear right before the real answer. We ask the follow-up question every time β€” because the detail someone almost skips is usually the one that matters most.

She kept saying "I used to." We started counting how many times.

Six times, in a ten-minute conversation. Used to garden. Used to travel. Used to sleep through the night. That's not a mood β€” that's a pattern worth diagnosing, not just noting.

We listen for what's underneath the symptom, not just the symptom itself.
