🏡The room was set up
🎟️We started to interact more
💙His Room was Personalized
👔👞👕👟Lots Purchased

🧘🏽Respite was needed for our vacation due to it not approved by the court and other difficulties presenting each day.

🫶🏻He remained with the respite family. They became his foster family. A home with two parents who are home full time and 3+ teenage boys was a better fit for him.
💔Requesting that was one of the hardest things…. Even though we know it was for the best.

We need your help!

We’re looking for recommendations for a psychiatrist who accepts Medicaid and can provide medication management for a couple of our Young Adults aging out of foster care.

We know wait times can be especially long for those with Medicaid, and we’re hoping our community can help us find a provider who may have availability or a connection to someone who does.

If you know a psychiatrist who accepts Medicaid, please send us a message! Even a name or connection could make a huge difference.

When we all work together, we can help make sure our Young Adults aren’t left waiting for the care they need.

End.of.the.School.Year.
🦋I’m wrapping up in 4 elementary schools with only 5 more days of direct mental health services.
🌻My little girl (our youngest) is ending Middle School & will start in a new district for High School!
🪼Both our girls are going to Senior Prom!
🌼My big girl (our oldest) has 1 more graduation, after finals, then all the college prep things.
🩵I’m unsure how this is all happening and it truly goes so quickly day by day, minute by minute.

💛It has me reminiscing about HS, Senior Prom, Senior week in OCMD, undergrad at & the bestest friends from HS & MU who my kids consider aunts/uncles!

safety, love, unity

families, communities, rulings

I Hold On To Hope for- the kids who didn’t get a say in the life they were brought or placed into

I Hope & Pray Everyday for- the grip of holding on to not become too hard for the hands of children to hold

I struggled with this prompt.
*Perhaps it’s where I am as a foster mom to one & an adoptive mom to the other; yet their bio siblings.
*Maybe it’s what I hear from my clients as they walk through the trenches caring for little ones.
~The system is so broken.
~There are not enough homes for the children. Some of the homes are not safe.
~There is often not appropriate support for the parents to support reunification.
~There are choices, blame and pressure placed on the children.
~There are barriers for children in care to be able to have access to age appropriate milestones (permit, license, driving, passport, travel, medical appointments, braces, education, safety).
“The world’s on fire. I burn, happily dancing with you.”
I pray that the children feel safe and loved; that they can dance in my home while their world is on fire many days-with uncertainty within the system that they had no say/control/responsibility being placed in.

Sure, I can list our typical daily routine.
Yet there is so much more.
*Paperwork of medication given, appointments had, appointments listed that are in the future, possession list, clothing inventories.
*Emails, calls and texts with the team of teachers, school counselors, therapists, case workers, GAL, CASA.
*Updates/changes/plans related to visits, court review hearing, appeal to TPR.
*Holding information received and planning on when to tell the child and rest of our family news that may not be easy to hear.
*Decisions made about visits, therapy, school, trips, family planning.
*Balancing siblings who are at different stages of their journey in foster care/adoption.
*Graduations, end of year dances, prom, school trips, drivers license permit tests, passports and all the things school & developmentally appropriate given their age.
*Exhausting, Joyful, Devastating, Heartwarming, Complicated, Easy to Decide Love over all else- One Day At A Time, One Second At A Time

My point of view is simply being human.
As a human I have many roles.
My most important, difficult, meaningful, heart wrenching, unsteady, always trying to do my best yet learning from my mistakes along the way role is Foster Parent.

I would choose this role day after day because the kids and their families need our support.
