Our next board member that has recently joined us is Megan Loyd! We have been wanting to bring on another funeral director for a while- and Megan naturally seamed to fit!
Megan Loyd is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines.
Originally from the Columbus Junction area, Megan moved to Central Iowa in 2014. She attended Des Moines Area Community College, where she earned her degree in Mortuary Science in 2019. She has also completed specialized embalming and reconstructive training through Fountain National Academy in Springfield, Missouri. Megan has a genuine passion for learning and is committed to ongoing professional development, believing there is always something new to discover, improve, and bring back to the families she serves.
Throughout her career, Megan has had the privilege of serving families in Knoxville, Oskaloosa, Chariton, and the Des Moines metropolitan area. She is passionate about creating meaningful, personalized services that reflect the unique life and legacy of each individual. Her creativity and attention to detail help families honor their loved ones in ways that are both memorable and deeply personal.
Megan is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of embalming and postmortem care she believes that restorative work and open-casket viewing can provide a powerful opportunity for healing, offering families and friends a meaningful final chance to say goodbye.
She is a member of both the National Funeral Directors Association and the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, kayaking, and exploring nature. She also enjoys artifact hunting, woodworking, and other hands-on creative pursuits.
Megan is honored to be a part of The Final Salute and strongly believes in its mission of providing veterans with a dignified and honorable final farewell. She looks forward to contributing her skills, compassion, and dedication in support of the organization's important work.
