What if the snack in your kiddo’s lunchbox or the “healthy” granola bar you grab in the afternoon is draining your family’s energy? 👀
Do you know what is normalized in schools & in our grocery store aisles? SUGAR.
>It hides in yogurt, bread, pasta sauce, protein bars, and yes, even ketchup.
>It hijacks your brain’s reward system like a drug, creating highs, crashes, and cravings.
>It fuels inflammation, weakens the immune system, disrupts sleep, and throws hormones out of balance.
Not all sugar is bad. It’s how it’s processed and packaged that matters. Natural sugars (like fruit, honey & dates) are your best options.
Here's a stat...
Kids ages 2 - 18 are recommended to have less than 25g of sugar a day. The average pop contains 40g. A drink at starbucks can range from 30g - 80g. That's nuts! Many kids are already over their limit x2 by only having 1 drink! No wonder kids have outburts- their body can't process this much sugar.
Pro tip as summer is full of no routines & lots of treats:
- Skip the cereal, juice, and Pop-Tarts for breakfast. Eggs, fruit, and a protein source will fuel your kid's brain way better than sugar ever could.
- Make homemade popsicles or icecream
- Healthy electrolyte mixes > gaterade
