Well, it’s been a hard week. So many of us are watching what is unfolding in our country with dread and despair. Those emotions can overwhelm and render us frozen. In reflection, that is probably the point of it all. The chaos is the point (as is the cruelty). They want us shocked and immobilized. In panic, we don’t plan. We lose hope. We shrink ourselves for survival and we pull away from others. Systems of oppression and those that move the gears of the systems count on it.

That’s why caring for yourself, cultivating joy and building community are acts of resistance as well as vital to our mental health. Joy is expansion and liberating. Community is protective and inspiring. Lean into what brings you joy and to communities that care for you. And please care for yourself. Remember to drink the water, feed yourself, take a break from doomscrolling. Crash out for a moment if you need to and do everything to stay with us. We need you.

We come together in community to create solidarity and live q***r joy openly. We stand proudly as examples of authenticity for our little ones who will carry the future of our community.
