Voices matter. Recognition matters. Participating in this Flags for Headache installation at the 5th Annual Pediatric Pain Warrior Summer Camp showed our pain warrior kids, teens, and families that their experiences matter.

Thank you to Lundbeck, the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy & The Headache Alliance, the Danielle Byron Henry Migraine Foundation, and Nerivio for making this powerful display possible.

This week, I’m honored to be representing the Pediatric Pain Warrior Program at the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Conference in Las Vegas!

School nurses play such an important role in the lives of children living with chronic pain. They are often the bridge between a child’s medical needs and their ability to safely learn, participate, and thrive in the classroom.

Our goal is simple: to make sure school nurses have the resources, education, and tools they need to help Pain Warriors return to school with the accommodations and support they deserve. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they feel safe, understood, and empowered.

The response to our booth and educational materials has been incredibly welcoming, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many passionate school nurses who are committed to making a difference for their students.

Together, we’re building stronger support systems for our Pain Warriors one school, one nurse, and one child at a time. 💙

Campers, families, and volunteers at our Pediatric Pain Warrior Family Summer Camp gathered together for our own Flags for Headache installation as part of Migraine and Headache Awareness Month. We're proud to support this impactful initiative from the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy and The Headache Alliance by bringing it to our camp community. Decked out in purple, kids and adults alike each placed their own flag to help create this display. The flags waving across the camp field were a powerful reminder of the daily and lifelong impact that migraine and headache diseases have on millions of U.S. kids and adults.

Year 5 of camp has come to a close. The last few days were high-flying, fear-defying, adventure-filled days. Our campers traversed the challenge course and climbing wall, flew down the zip line, soared on the giant swing, rode horses, and made penguin keepsakes to commemorate their time here. They went neck and neck during Family Game Night to see who would be crowned victorious, and they tossed some paint and splashed some water at Color Wars. And on the final day, they shared with each other how much this time and this community meant to them -- and how this large, blended, supportive family will always be there for each other.

We are so proud of the incredible people who embarked on this week with us. Kids with pain met others who understood their journeys for the first time. Their families connected with others who truly get it. They all tried new things, learned more about themselves, and made lifelong connections.

To all of our Pediatric Pain Warrior families: You've found a family here. Thank you for making this camp and this program what it is.

Day 2 of camp is a wrap! Our campers made some new furry and scaled friends (one wearing a Stetson in true Texas fashion), wielded bows and arrows, and put their unique stamp on an arts and crafts project. They reached new heights on the challenge course and horseback rides, and learned important insights about pediatric pain and the health benefits of art in our education sessions. They celebrated their first full day with carnival games and rides, and continued to learn and try new things. They are making new connections that will become lifelong friends and learning more about what they're capable of. We can't wait to see what adventures Day 3 brings!

Ready, Set, Go! Yesterday, we welcomed our largest group yet to the 5th annual Pediatric Pain Warrior Summer Camp at Morgan's Camp in San Antonio, Texas. Returning and new families made connections, took a dip in the pool, learned new things about each other, played some games, and had a s'more (or three). The rain has cleared and we're ready for a sunny week of trying new things and making memories. Follow along with us this week!

Today, the Pediatric Pain Warrior Program was honored to present at the annual meeting of the School Nurses Organization of Arizona.

Our Director, Casey Cashman, alongside Pediatric Pain Warrior and high school senior Jordyn Boone, had the privilege of sharing the powerful impact that school nurses can have on the lives of children living with chronic pain and their families.

Together, they discussed the critical role school nurses play in helping students navigate daily challenges, supporting school attendance and participation, advocating for accommodations, and providing a safe, understanding space during difficult days. They also highlighted how strong partnerships between families, healthcare providers, and school nurses can make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational and emotional well-being.

Some of the key takeaways included:
💙 Believe and validate a child’s pain experience.
💙 Communication and collaboration are essential.
💙 Small acts of support can have a lasting impact.
💙 Accommodations help students succeed, not gain an advantage.
💙 School nurses are often one of the most important members of a Pediatric Pain Warrior’s support team.

A special thank you to the School Nurses Organization of Arizona for welcoming us and for your commitment to supporting students across our state. And a huge thank you to Jordyn for courageously sharing her story and helping educate professionals who make a difference in the lives of so many children every day.

Casey Cashman was honored to collaborate with Texas Children's Hospital - West Campus bringing together 15 incredible families for our Texas Children’s Community Day 💙

It was a day filled with education, connection, and meaningful community building—creating a space where families could come together, share experiences, and feel understood.

A special highlight was hearing from our very own Lanie Henry, who inspired everyone with her powerful pain journey. Her courage and honesty reminded us all that no one walks this path alone.

We hope each family left with new knowledge, a stronger sense of belonging, and most importantly—validation. Your stories matter. Your voices matter. And this community is always here for you.

It was incredible being in Pittsburgh for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners conference!

We loved connecting with so many passionate providers, sharing our resources, and continuing to build meaningful relationships. Every conversation brings us one step closer to expanding our reach and advancing our mission to support pediatric pain warriors and their families.

We loved collaborating with Jody Thomas of the Meg Foundation to truly show how important education on pediatric pain is!

Grateful for the opportunity and excited for what’s ahead!
