As many of you know, The YellowJacket Expert is currently having a professionally trained detection dog named Max trained to locate hidden yellowjacket and hornet nests. I’m really excited about what he’ll be able to do beginning in the 2027 season.

Since yellowjackets and hornets are inactive during the winter months, I’m exploring the possibility of having Max trained to detect bed bugs as well. The idea would be to provide a legitimate inspection and detection service during the winter when there are no stinging insects to locate.

Right now, I’m simply doing market research to determine whether this would be a viable business here in Connecticut.

If you have experience with bed bugs, work in hotels, schools, apartment management, nursing homes, pest control, property management, or another industry where this might be useful—or if you know someone I should talk to—I would really appreciate any introductions or insights.

I’m not trying to sell anything at this point. I’m simply trying to learn whether this is a real need and whether developing Max into a dual-purpose detection dog would be a worthwhile investment.
