Progress is being made on one of the most important infrastructure projects at Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne—a new water well.

Reliable access to clean water is essential for every aspect of patient care. While the hospital has more than 100,000 gallons (375,000 liters) of water storage capacity, the dry season from October through April creates a significant challenge.

During these months, approximately 2,600 gallons (10,000 liters) of water must be trucked in each day at an annual cost of nearly $5,000.

🔵 A successful well will:
• Provide a more reliable source of clean water for the hospital.
• Strengthen 24/7 healthcare services for patients.
• Help reduce the need for expensive water deliveries.
• Benefit the surrounding mountain communities of Loiseau, Marlique, and Pétion-Ville, where HBLM serves approximately 150,000 people.

Drilling has been challenging due to extremely hard rock, but the crew has already reached approximately 60% of the projected 375-foot depth where geological testing indicates water may be found.

Thanks to the incredible support of our donors, Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH) not only achieved its 2026 Birdies for Charity goal of $75,000, but also earned the maximum 15% bonus of $11,250, generously provided by Webster Bank and Aetna.

What does that bonus mean in real terms?

It is equivalent to the annual salaries of four laboratory technicians at Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne.

These dedicated healthcare professionals play a critical role in patient care every day by:

🔵 A heartfelt THANK YOU to Corey Levasseur, Betsey Joakim, and Anne D’Orvilliers for helping transport blue barrels to the MATH storeroom in preparation for our next shipment of medical supplies to Haiti.

These barrels will soon be filled with much-needed medical equipment, supplies, and resources destined for Dr. Wilkens and the staff of Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne, where healthcare is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to thousands of patients each year.

Every barrel packed represents hope.
Every shipment strengthens healthcare services.
Every volunteer makes a difference.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH) has exceeded our $75,000 goal in the 2026 Travelers Championship Birdies for Charity program!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who chose to support MATH through this impactful fundraising opportunity. Your donations will help provide critical medical equipment, supplies, and healthcare services for the patients and families served by Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne.

While MATH held the lead as the top fundraiser for much of the campaign, Special Olympics made a tremendous final push and ultimately secured the one-day on-site table at the Travelers Championship. Haiti's humanitarian crisis continues to deepen.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 110,000 Haitian migrants have been forcibly returned so far in 2026, while approximately 1.47 million people remain internally displaced within Haiti.

Speaking at the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva, IOM Haiti Chief of Mission Gregoire Goodstein emphasized that Haiti's crisis is no longer unfolding in stages - it has become a constant reality for millions of Haitians.

For organizations like Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH), these statistics are more than numbers. They represent mothers, fathers, children, and families who continue to face extraordinary challenges while seeking safety, stability, and access to healthcare.

Despite these challenges, Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing essential medical, surgical, maternal, pediatric, dental, ophthalmologic, and emergency care to the communities it serves.

🔵 Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH) is grateful for the continued generosity and partnership of SOMA Tech Intl in helping equip Hôpital Bellevue-La-Montagne with life-saving medical technology.

Recently, Ash Dhamamm of SOMA Tech Intl demonstrated an advanced laser microscope to Bruce Tooker, MATH volunteer, during a visit to discuss equipment that will be included in a container shipment planned for late summer 2026.

SOMA specializes in refurbishing medical equipment, making high-quality healthcare technology more affordable and accessible for hospitals serving communities in need.

Through SOMA’s generosity, MATH has previously received anesthesia equipment, infant warmers, and surgical equipment that continue to support patient care at HBLM.

These partnerships make it possible to continue expanding healthcare services and improving outcomes for the thousands of patients who rely on HBLM each year.

• Free teeth cleaning
• Family members (spouse & children) are welcome

Community / Villagers:
• Free dental consultation
• Teeth cleaning available for 1000 gourdes (~$7.50 USD)

This initiative is part of our ongoing mission to improve access to essential healthcare services and promote oral health and prevention within the community.
