Movement does not have to be intense to be helpful.

When it comes to mental health, consistency matters more than perfection. A short walk, gentle stretching, lifting weights, dancing in your kitchen, or taking the stairs all count.

Rest counts too. Your body and mind need recovery time.

Focus on how movement supports your mood, sleep, energy, and stress level, not just how it changes your body.

What kind of movement helps you feel more like yourself?

I'm excited to share that my first book, Life after Survival: A Story from Both Sides of the Bed is now available on Amazon! It's a story about navigating medical trauma and coming out the other side. It is available in paperback, kindle and hardcover versions.

For twenty years, Laura Baker lived with the knowledge that her heart might fail her at any time. Diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy at twenty years old, she learned to navigate life between uncertainty and determination—becoming a nurse, a nurse practitioner, a wife, and a mother of three whi....

Love who you are. Fully. Safely. Proudly. 🌈

Pride Month is a reminder that acceptance, belonging, and support are not optional when it comes to mental health. Everyone deserves care that honors who they are and doesn't ask them to hide pieces of themselves.

To anyone who has had to fight to be seen, heard, respected, or loved: you matter exactly as you are.

What is one way you show yourself acceptance?

Sometimes we do not need advice, solutions, or someone telling us to “look on the bright side.”

Sometimes we just need comfort.

Connection is part of mental health. A hug, a kind word, a check-in, or simply sitting with someone through a hard moment can make a difference.

Consider this your reminder to reach out to someone you trust—or to be that safe person for someone else today.

Who could use a little extra kindness this week?

Needing help does not mean you are weak. It means you are human.

You do not have to wait until things are falling apart to reach out. Support can help when you are overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, grieving, stuck, burned out, or simply tired of carrying everything alone.

Asking for help is not failure. It is a step toward healing.

What would make it easier for you to ask for support when you need it?

Hobbies are not just “extra.” They can be part of how we reconnect with ourselves.

Gardening, music, cooking, movement, painting, photography, knitting, dancing, or meditation can give your brain a break from stress and help create moments of calm, joy, focus, or connection.

You do not have to be good at a hobby for it to be good for you.

What hobby helps your mental health the most?

Self-care does not have to be complicated to be effective.

Sometimes the basics make the biggest difference: consistent sleep, movement, quiet reflection, time outside, and meaningful connection. These small habits help support your nervous system, your mood, and your overall health.

Start with one. Keep it realistic. Build from there. 🌿

Which self-care habit feels most doable for you this week?

Progress is not always easy to see from the outside.

Sometimes progress looks like getting out of bed, setting a boundary, going to your appointment, resting instead of pushing through, or choosing not to give up on yourself.

Quiet progress still counts. Healing does not have to be dramatic to be real. What is one small sign of progress you are proud of today?

Your feelings are valid, even when they are uncomfortable.

Feeling anxious, sad, angry, overwhelmed, or uncertain does not mean something is wrong with you. Emotions are information. They can help us understand what we need, what hurts, and where support may be needed.

You do not have to judge the feeling to work through it. 💛

What helps you slow down and listen to what your emotions are telling you?

Cravings can feel confusing, frustrating, and deeply personal, but they are not a sign that someone is weak or broken.

This month, we look at the brain science behind cravings, why they can feel so automatic, and how tools like awareness, support, planning, and “urge surfing” can help interrupt the loop.

Recovery is not about shame. It is about understanding what is happening in the brain and building new pathways one step at a time.
