2016 was both a year of new beginnings and the hardest year of my life. This was my first year stepping into private practice with my mentor and I was fresh out of grad school starting my career as a therapist.
I also got to travel home and be with my grandparents (who are no longer with us and I miss dearly). My mom came to visit me and I was living my best life in LA.
Then suddenly I found myself in a hospital with my husband fighting for his life. Doctor’s told me his organs were shutting down, he had lost his sight and they weren’t sure he would make it. I prayed like I had never prayed before and a miracle happened, he lived and while it was a long road that lay ahead of us for his recovery, we were grateful to end the year together.
Looking back at that version of myself, she was just getting started, had so many goals and dreams. She also had many fears and experienced the trauma of her husband’s illness. I was diagnosed with PTSD and started therapy and antidepressants that year.
10 years later, I think I’ve made her proud, I’m now licensed in 3 states, have my own private practice, became president of a non-profit, published a book and most importantly, have been healing from my trauma and my husband is thriving and healthy. I hustled for many years and I’m now in my soft era.
My grandparents are no longer in this realm, but they walk with me every day in the ancestral world and they are my guides.
So thank you 2016 and here’s to growth, healing, miracles and goals and dreams coming true.
