As a dermatologist with skin of color myself, this is a conversation that is especially important to me.
Common skin conditions do not always look the same across every skin tone. Redness may appear more brown or purple, inflammation can leave behind persistent pigmentation, and certain conditions can be easier to miss when we are only taught what they look like on lighter skin.
