What matters is how your recovery progresses. Your surgical team monitors your healing and can adjust your care plan to help manage discomfort and support a safe recovery.

Understanding what to expect after surgery can make the recovery process feel a little less uncertain.

It is easy to get frustrated when you feel like you are not moving as quickly as you would like. Whether you are navigating recovery or just pushing through a challenging week, remember that consistency often matters more than speed.

Give yourself credit for the effort you are putting in. Even on the days when it feels like a small effort, it is still progress. Stay patient with yourself, trust the process, and keep looking ahead. You are doing better than you think.

Think of these scans as the map I need to understand exactly what is happening. While I learn a great deal from our conversation and physical exam, these images show me the structural details I can’t see otherwise. They allow me to pinpoint the source of a problem, like a disc issue, so we can have a clear, evidence-based conversation about what’s going on and what your next steps might be.

Living with persistent back pain often changes how you go about your day. It’s common to start turning down activities you enjoy simply because you're worried about how you’ll feel later. To navigate this, it helps to understand the connection between your spinal stability and nerve health.

Pain often creates a difficult cycle: you move less to protect your back, which makes you stiffer, and that stiffness can cause even more pain. I look at the "why" behind that cycle. By evaluating the right care options and knowing when to intervene more directly, I focus on addressing that loop to help you get back to your regular routine.

I don’t aim for a quick fix. Instead, I focus on a sustainable plan supported by my experience in long-term spinal health.

If you'd like to talk about your spinal health and see if my approach is right for you, feel free to reach out to my office.

Neck discomfort that lingers shouldn't be ignored. Whether it's a persistent, nagging ache or something more sharp and localized, it is easy to either shrug it off as part of a busy day or, conversely, assume the worst.

The reality is that your body is signaling that something is off. When it comes to the cervical spine, waiting for discomfort to pass on its own often allows underlying mechanical issues to persist, making them more complex to manage in the long run. Identifying the underlying issue early, rather than just masking the symptoms, is the most effective way to protect your long-term mobility and comfort.

If you’ve been dealing with this and want a better understanding of what’s going on, let's connect. I'm happy to listen to what you're experiencing and discuss how we can help you find a path forward.

By employing specialized micro-instruments and tubular retractors, surgeons can often access the spine through smaller incisions, which typically results in less disruption to surrounding tissues compared to traditional open methods.

One of the most common questions I hear is, "Does this mean I need surgery?" I want to be very clear: surgery is a powerful, life-changing tool, and I am proud to be a surgeon. My philosophy is to use that tool at the exact moment it becomes the best way to get you the results you need.

I believe in exhausting all the right paths first, but I also know that there are times when waiting too long for a "fix" is the wrong move. My goal is to be honest with you about when your condition can be managed conservatively and when surgery is the most reliable, efficient way to get you back to your life.

Your goals are my goals, and we are going to move at a pace that feels safe, honest, and right for your specific spine. I am here to provide you with the full spectrum of care, so you can feel confident that you’re getting the right treatment at the right time.

You don't have to worry that a visit to my office means you're being pushed toward an operation; it means you're being guided by someone who knows how to keep you out of the operating room, and when to confidently walk you into one. Let’s talk about what works for you.

When the weekend finally rolls around, most of us look forward to catching our breath. But when you’re living with chronic back or neck discomfort, the weekend often looks a bit different. Instead of looking forward to activities, you might find yourself managing your calendar around your pain - modifying your plans, sitting out of family outings, or spending your days off just trying to rest up for the coming week.

The reality is that there is a big mechanical difference between resting a sore back and actually restoring your spinal health. Taking it easy can soothe a fatigued muscle, but it cannot fix an underlying structural issue like a shifting vertebra, a flattening disc, or compressed nerves. When those structural shifts are present, your body is constantly working overtime just to keep you stable and upright. That is exactly why you can spend an entire weekend resting on the couch, only to wake up on Monday morning with that same deep, localized ache.

True relief doesn't come from a generic piece of advice to rest more, but rather from understanding your unique spinal mechanics. My goal is to look closely at those structural details to figure out exactly what is causing that instability, so we can build a targeted plan focused on strengthening and protection that gets you back to your life.

You shouldn't have to plan your weekends around what your back will tolerate. If you're ready to get some clear answers and move past temporary fixes, let's talk.

When facing a diagnosis that involves your spine, brain, or peripheral nerves, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by complex medical terminology. It can often feel like your condition is being viewed merely as a technical problem on a scan rather than something affecting your daily life.

Advanced neurosurgery requires safeguarding your autonomy. Your nervous system is the intricate control center that dictates how you interact with the world, governing your movement, your memory, and your physical strength. Because every individual's neural pathways and anatomy are uniquely mapped, there is no such thing as a standard or routine case. Truly advanced care demands a high level of precision and specialized insight to correct structural issues while actively protecting these core functions so you can preserve your quality of life.

As a double board-certified and fellowship-trained neurosurgeon, my approach to spinal disorders, nerve conditions, and complex cases is built entirely around this principle. Every decision - from monitoring structural shifts to performing precise interventions - is guided by years of specialized experience and an absolute attention to detail.

Whether we are establishing a targeted stabilization protocol or identifying the need for precision surgery, the goal is always to deliver results you can count on.
