Back pain, leg pain, or numbness can sometimes be related to a condition called spondylolisthesis.

Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra shifts forward relative to the vertebra beneath it. It can develop from age-related degeneration, a stress fracture, trauma, or other spinal conditions.

Symptoms may include:
• Lower back pain
• Pain that travels into the legs
• Numbness or tingling
• Muscle weakness
• Difficulty standing or walking for extended periods

The good news? Spondylolisthesis does not automatically mean surgery.

Treatment depends on the severity of the condition and your individual symptoms. Nonsurgical options may be appropriate for many patients, while surgery may be considered when symptoms persist or there is significant nerve compression or spinal instability.

If persistent back or leg symptoms are affecting your daily life, an evaluation can help determine what may be causing your pain and which treatment options are appropriate.

A spinal cord injury (SCI) occurs when the spinal cord is damaged, often as a result of trauma such as a fall, motor vehicle accident, or sports injury. Because the spinal cord carries messages between the brain and the body, an injury can affect movement, sensation, strength, and other bodily functions.

The severity of a spinal cord injury can vary greatly. Some injuries may cause temporary symptoms, while more serious injuries can result in permanent changes in function.

If you or someone you know experiences a significant spinal injury, prompt medical evaluation is important.

Understanding spinal cord injuries is an important step toward prevention, early recognition, and appropriate treatment.

Central canal stenosis can lead to back or neck pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or difficulty walking and maintaining balance.

While central canal stenosis is often associated with aging, it doesn't mean you have to live with the symptoms. Many patients find relief through conservative treatments, and when surgery is appropriate, it can help relieve pressure on the nerves and improve quality of life.

If you're experiencing persistent back or neck pain, leg pain, or changes in balance, it's important to be evaluated early. The right diagnosis can make all the difference.
