If you have asthma, an asthma attack can happen when you are exposed to “asthma triggers.” Your triggers can be very different from those of someone else with asthma. Know your triggers and learn how to avoid them. Watch out for an attack when you can’t avoid the triggers.

Has your child experienced rejection yet? 💔

😢 Heartbreak and rejection are an uncomfortable, but inevitable, part of life. Teaching kids how to handle rejection will help them be more emotionally resilient and empathetic when the time comes.

🗣️ Here are 3 things to teach your kids about how to handle rejection…
1️⃣ Respecting others’ consent and boundaries is non-negotiable—AND it’s a super important skill for kids to learn as they become more socially independent. You can say, “If someone tells you ‘no,’ respect their decision and move on.”

2️⃣ It takes a lot of bravery to put yourself out there. Remind them that everyone gets rejected sometimes, and it never feels good. Lead with empathy and let them know you’re here to help them process any difficult feelings.

3️⃣ It also takes courage to say “no.” Remind them it’s not personal when others set a boundary. They should not let any difficult feelings about the rejection turn into anger or bitterness toward the person who rejected them.

🙌🏾 Teaching these important lessons to your kids early and often can help set them up to handle rejection with grace and respect as they get older!

😩 A lot of parents say are really worried because their child doesn’t like meat.

Your child can thrive as a vegetarian as long as they eat a variety of protein-rich foods.

For some things like omega-3’s, a supplement is usually helpful if the child isn’t eating fish, since it’s not feasible to get enough of it from diet (even if nuts & seeds to have them).

Parents say "no" a lot—and often, it's necessary. You have to tell your child no if they're running away in a parking lot, for example, or if they're taking their clothes off in a restaurant, or if they pull the cat's tail.

But often we find ourselves saying no to things that aren't dangerous, rude, or hurtful. Often, kids ask to do something that we'd just prefer they didn't do in that moment—like pour their own milk, or buckle their own car seat belt.

Pro tip: Don't confuse inconvenience with danger.

If something is just potentially going to be messy, take a long time, be kind of noisy, etc. — consider saying yes!

If they spill the milk or take 20 minutes buckling their seatbelt, it's all part of the learning process. Plus, you'll help them gain independence, and reinforce a growth mindset where they value the process of working toward a goal!

Your child’s growing independence from the family and interest in friends might be obvious by now. Healthy friendships are very important to your child’s development, but peer pressure can become strong during this time. Children who feel good about themselves are more able to resist negative peer pressure and make better choices. Here is a positive parenting quick tip to help you support your 9 to 11-year-old during this time:

HELP YOUR CHILD DEVELOP THEIR OWN SENSE OF RIGHT AND WRONG. TALK TO THEM ABOUT RISKY THINGS FRIENDS MIGHT PRESSURE THEM TO DO, LIKE SMOKING OR DANGEROUS PHYSICAL DARES.

Pertussis is a very contagious bacterial infection of the lungs, not a camping trip highlight. Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, can cause:
• Pneumonia
• Seizures
• Brain disease

It can be especially life-threatening to babies. Vaccination is the best way to protect children from a serious pertussis infection.
