The dedication of our students to their studies and research is evident in their successes at professional conferences and as they leave the Hilltop to enter the professional world.

Please consider supporting our Biology program so these hands-on experiences can continue for many years to come.

When the whole research crew finally gets together 🧪🤓

Reminiscing on the grand opening of The Hilltop Center for Biomedical Research last week 🧬

02/11/2026

Today a vision became reality as we officially opened the Hilltop Center for Biomedical Research with a ribbon cutting.

Previously, Arnett Hall housed only one dedicated research laboratory shared among five faculty members and approximately 30 students engaged in externally funded biomedical research.

To meet increasing demand and enhance collaboration, faculty members Dr. Deanna Schmitt and Dr. Holly Vopal successfully applied for a $250,000 Alterations and Renovations grant through the WV IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (WV-INBRE) program.

We are grateful for the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and the leadership of WV-INBRE in helping bring this project to fruition.
