August is National Wellness Month — a reminder that supporting mental health can start with small, everyday habits.

Sleep, routine, movement, connection, screen breaks, and healthy coping skills can all play a role in emotional wellness. These simple steps can help create stability, reduce stress, and support overall well-being.

And when more support is needed, Perimeter Healthcare is here to help individuals and families take the next step.

Mental health challenges often begin earlier than many people realize.

According to NAMI, 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24. That’s why awareness, early support, and access to compassionate care are so important for children, teens, young adults, and their families.

Recognizing the signs early can help someone get the support they need sooner — and remind families they do not have to navigate mental health concerns alone.

Mental health challenges do not always look the way we expect.

Sometimes, they can show up as physical pain, brain fog, irritability, changes in motivation, or difficulty keeping up with everyday routines. These signs can be easy to overlook, but they may be a signal that someone needs support.

Noticing changes is often the first step toward helping someone feel seen, heard, and cared for.

When one person in a family is facing a mental health crisis, it can affect everyone.

At Perimeter Healthcare, we understand that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. We encourage families to be involved in the care process and believe open communication is an important part of support. Our team is here not only for the individual in treatment, but for the family as well — providing guidance, updates, and support every step of the way.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Our young patients continue to inspire us every day!

While receiving treatment, they express their creativity through beautiful works of art that reflect their strength, imagination, and resilience. Every masterpiece tells a story and reminds us that hope and healing come in many forms.

We’re so proud to showcase their incredible artwork and celebrate the bright spirits behind each creation. Join us in applauding these amazing young artists and staff that help make these moments special.

As summer break comes to an end and a new school year begins, we’re reflecting on what an amazing summer it’s been for the youth in our community.

Account Manager, Patreece Barton was honored to join Mayor Marco McClendon and his team from the City of West Memphis on an educational trip to Little Rock. Students from their Community Outreach Summer Program had the opportunity to visit the Arkansas State Capitol, Little Rock Central High School, the Governor’s Mansion, and the Clinton Presidential Library. It was a great experience that allowed them to learn, ask questions, and see firsthand the importance of history, leadership, and public service.

We also had a wonderful time partnering with the Mayor’s Office, The City of West Memphis, West Memphis School District and many others for their Annual Back-to-School Supply Giveaway Bash. Seeing so many students and families come together to prepare for the new school year was truly heartwarming.

We at Perimeter always enjoy collaborating with Mayor McClendon, his Powerhouse Director of Community Outreach Theresa Bowe and those of The City of West Memphis. It’s clear how much they care about the children and the future of our city. The time and effort they continue to pour into creating opportunities for our youth does not go unnoticed, and it’s a privilege to be a small part of those efforts.

At Perimeter Behavioral Health Hospital, we believe that building healthy communities starts with investing in our children. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events a success. We wish all of our students, teachers, and families a safe, happy, and successful school year!
