Meet Abbi! 💙

Abbi joined the Therapeutic Focus team in July 2013 as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology from the University of Arkansas in 2011, then went on to receive her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from UAMS in 2013.
With experience serving both adults and children across a variety of settings, including early intervention, public schools, outpatient clinics, and skilled nursing facilities, Abbi brings incredible knowledge and compassion to every patient she serves.
Her greatest passion is working with children, especially in the areas of literacy, articulation, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). We are so thankful for the care, dedication, and encouragement she brings to our team and families each day! ✨

🌟 Therapist of the Week Spotlight 🌟

Meet Carla! 💙

Carla earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Harding University in 1993 and her Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from Arkansas State University in 1994.
With experience in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, public schools, private practice, and home health, Carla has dedicated her career to helping others communicate and improve their quality of life. Carla is currently helping children in Zambia by providing speech therapy to them.
When she’s not working with patients, Carla enjoys spending time at the lake and making memories with family and friends. ☀️💙

This week's therapy tip is Static Quadrupod Grasp!✏️

Little hands are getting stronger every day!
Around ages 3–4 (and sometimes older), kids start using their fingers more to hold a pencil.

✏️ Tip: Have your child draw or write using four fingers to help with control and make writing easier.

Have your child(ren) sort the cards by colors and numbers. Other good games to play are Go Fish, Crazy Eights, and Old Maid!
