What if confidence isn’t built in one big moment… but one tiny choice at a time?

Think of self-love like a string of pearls. Every time you speak kindly to yourself, set a healthy boundary, take a break when you need it, or choose growth over self-criticism, you’re adding another pearl.

The challenge is that we often overlook our pearls. We focus on what we haven’t done instead of recognizing the small wins, brave choices, and moments of growth happening every day. To build confidence, we have to notice our pearls and intentionally string them together.

One pearl may not seem like much. But over time, those small moments add up to something beautiful.

The best part? Pearls are formed through irritation and pressure. In the same way, some of our greatest growth comes from the hard seasons we never would have chosen.

So today, take a moment to recognize your pearls. Name them. Celebrate them. String them together. You may discover you’re carrying far more strength, resilience, and growth than you realized. 🤍

Sometimes in session we create visuals!

Life is filled with ups and downs and can often feel like a rollercoaster. We can find more emotional stability by naming our emotions and learning to better manage them. More effectively navigating both the ups and downs also leads to more highs than lows, which overall creates a happier life!

Also, we need to be aware of being stuck on the one loop of worries. Intrusive thoughts are real and when they stick they are hard to get unstuck. Post to follow to better explain how to escape the one loop rollercoaster of worries.

We have started to show glimpses of what it can look like behind the door of the counseling room! We’re having so much fun doing this and will continue to show you glances into some of our sessions!

Now, let’s talk a little about the process of counseling…

We often use a metaphor with clients when we are describing the process of counseling, and thought it would be beneficial to share with everyone to better explain the therapeutic process.

In many ways counseling is like a client dragging a stuffed and cumbersome suitcase to a therapist and asking for help with shutting it. “I’ve tried sitting on it, jumping on it and even getting help from family and friends, but it just won’t shut, and I don’t know what to do!”

Some suitcases might look pristine on the outside, but extremely cluttered within, others are bruised and battered and have clearly seen better days.
Fortunately, therapists work with all types of suitcases and at that first session they will probably agree that your suitcase is bursting at the seams and needs a good sort-through.

So together, in a safe room, we begin unpacking your suitcase.

It can take only a couple of sessions to unpack, but other times it can take months or even years. It depends on how big, how deep, how weathered and worn it’s become. It depends on how hard it is to open.
Some suitcases can’t open more than a crack and so it takes time to reach in, grab an item and gently pull it out into the open.

Once we’ve unpacked, scattered across the floor our office, we can begin to sort.

And so, we continue. Examining, rummaging, checking, trying on, discarding, or keeping until finally the suitcase shuts perfectly, with little effort.

It’s back to its real purpose, its true self. It is finally able to carry items effortlessly.

And hopefully, in the future, you might be a little pickier about whether something belongs in your suitcase or someone else’s. 🧳

What happens behind the closed doors of a counseling room? 👀♟️

Can you guess what’s happening in this picture?

This child is participating in a communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation exercise through a game of chess. Activities like this can help children learn how to slow down, think through decisions, express themselves, build confidence, and practice healthy coping skills in a safe and supportive environment. 🖤🤍

One of the beautiful things about counseling is that growth does not always happen through heavy conversations alone. Sometimes important life skills can be practiced through creative, interactive activities that make therapy feel more approachable, engaging, and even fun. ✨

Some people leave when life gets hard.
Aly didn’t. 🤍

Aly’s name came up in a counseling session today. Her life, her love for others, and the way she showed up for people continues to impact so many.

At Aly’s funeral, her dear friend shared a story about walking through a dark valley. She explained how Aly showed up for her, sat at the foot of her bed, and simply said, “You look beautiful, sis.” That was Aly. She had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and not alone.

In one session today, we talked about how as humans, we are built for connection. But more than quantity, we need quality. We need our “Alys.” The people who stay beside us in dark valleys. The people who don’t run when life becomes heavy.

Who are the people in your life who remain steady when things get difficult? And are you that kind of person for others?

Thank you, Aly, for your love for people. Your example continues to shape conversations inside counseling rooms and inspire others to seek the kind of support every human deserves.

We will continue to strive to love like Aly. 🤍

At Beautiful Minds, we pause to honor the life of Aly Taylor 🤍

Aly was so much more than a therapist.
She was a mother, a wife, a friend, and a light to so many. She wore each of these roles with grace, compassion, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

In her work, she created a space where people felt seen, safe, and deeply cared for. Outside of it, she showed us what it looks like to love well, to give selflessly, and to live with intention.

Aly was the kind of woman who made the world feel softer just by being in it.

She will be greatly missed, but her impact will continue to ripple through the lives she touched, through her family, her clients, and all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.

May we honor her by striving to show up with the same kindness, grace, and heart that she gave so freely every day.

We love you, sweet Aly!

Love,
Beautiful Minds

When discouragement or that “I’m not doing enough” feeling creeps in… 🤍

• Progress isn’t always visible
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Internal work counts too.

• Rest is not regression
Taking a step back to breathe, reset, or simply exist is part of growth, not a step away from it.

• Talk to yourself with kindness
If your thoughts sound harsh, pause and ask: “Would I say this to someone I love?”

You are allowed to grow at your own pace 🤍
There’s no timeline you’re behind on.
