Our residents at The Columns of West Monroe enjoyed another great exercise session with Kristyne from Synergy Care, Inc., using resistance bands to work on strength, flexibility and mobility.

We promise the blindfold technique was not part of Kristyne’s instructions, but it certainly gave us the best photo of the day! 😄

During Healthy Aging Month, we are highlighting the many ways older adults can support their overall well-being. Regular movement, social interaction and plenty of laughter can all play an important role... and we had all three today!!!!

🇺🇸 This Labor Day, we celebrate the generations of hard work represented throughout The Columns.

Across our communities in Bastrop, Bossier City, Minden and West Monroe, our residents have spent their lives building careers, raising families, serving others and helping shape the communities we call home. Their dedication, sacrifices and accomplishments have created legacies that continue through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We also recognize our incredible team members, whose compassion and commitment make a difference every single day. Caring for others is meaningful work, and we are deeply grateful for the hands and hearts that make each Columns community feel like home.

To our residents, staff, families and community partners: thank you for the work you have done (and continue to do) to make our communities stronger.

We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Synergy and the encouragement, expertise and positive energy Kristyne brings to our community. Regular movement can help older adults maintain strength, balance, mobility and independence... and it is even more enjoyable when we do it together!

🌟 RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT: NELL SPURLOCK 🌟

Today, we are honored to shine the spotlight on a remarkable member of The Columns of West Monroe family... Nell Spurlock!

Born on December 27 in Los Angeles, California, Nell has lived a life filled with love, family and incredible accomplishments. She was married to her beloved husband, Thomas, for 53 years, and she is the proud mother of three children: Toni, Rory and Denise.

Nell also enjoyed an impressive career with NASA, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring... an accomplishment of which she is rightfully very proud!

A gifted pianist and avid reader, Nell generously shares her musical talents with our community by playing the piano every Sunday morning. Her music has become a special part of our weekends and brings so much joy to our residents and team members.

Some of Nell’s favorite things include chocolate, Mexican food and the color red... which pairs perfectly with her favorite holiday, Christmas! One of her most treasured memories is when her father was elected mayor of West Monroe during World War II.

After 10 years of calling our community home, Nell says her favorite parts of life at The Columns are breakfast, Bingo and the friendships she has made along the way.

Nell is most proud of her children and her remarkable career with NASA, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our family. Her beautiful music, fascinating stories and warm presence make The Columns of West Monroe a brighter place.

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Charlie Raiford 🌟

After spending 40 years as a registered nurse working in assisted living and skilled nursing communities, Mr. Charlie Raiford knows senior living inside and out. He understands what quality care looks like, what makes a community feel like home and how much the little things matter.

That is why it means so much to us that, when it came time to choose a community for himself, Mr. Charlie chose The Columns of West Monroe.
