Prayer: Oh Great Orula representative of endless wisdom, knower of destinies and everything that exists. Mighty Orisha, benefactor of Men and Soothsayers, possessor of all accumulating knowledge, possessor of all the history of mankind. Great Orula, the worlds original Holy prophet and true savior from evil. Baba I ask for your blessings as the counselor of humanity to help me avoid evil, misfortune, illness, and black magic. Great Oracle and Holy Diviner I thank you for granting me with happiness, support, and protection. Orula is the Grand Priest of IFÁ and the one who is revealed the divinity and prophecy from the heavens, to provide to the world. Orunmila is Olodumare’s (Olofi) oldest child and is the Irunmole or Orisha (Orunmila is of the Irunmole turned Orisha) of Wisdom, Knowledge, & Divination and was the only Irunmole/Orisha present to bare witness of Olodumare’s creation of the Universe. It is said that Orunmila was bestowed some of the mysteries of Olodumare’s power while witnessing the creation of the Universe. The meaning of Orunmila’s name is “Heaven Knows Destiny”. Olodumare sent Orunmila to the earth many years before he sent Obatala. When Orunmila arrived to the earth, the entire earth was only made up of water where Olokun dwelled. Orunmila spent 400 years on Earth with no food only opening his mouth once a year gaining his nourishment from the air.
