Good morning followers! Do you know where your client's or loved one's device is? If the answer is not out and ready for use, your answer is WRONG! Even if it's only modeling or perseveration, there is only one way for them to learn and it's not by having their device put away.

Never let anyone tell you that "they just need more time to get verbal language" or "they don't meet the criteria". AAC is for anyone experiencing complex communication needs whether it be temporary, permanent or even if they struggle just some of the time. You wouldn't wait to use crutches for a broken leg or get glasses if you can't see, STOP waiting for verbal language to appear and help your loved one by giving the gift of communication. If the SLP you have says "no" find yourself someone new. Please reach out to me if I seem like a fit for your loved one 📱

Time for some more tips. Please remember that people with special needs are still people who still require discipline and need to be taught appropriate behavior rather than overlooking it or taking their voice away

Let's get this crafting club started. We will have our first club meeting next Wednesday, July 22 at 3pm. We are going to start with these fun iced cream projects to help us cool down this summer. There is no skill level needed including physical capabilities. If your loved one is in a wheelchair with limited use of their hands, they are still welcome, we do hand-over-hand here if needed.
