If a loved one is home alone at night even occasionally take 10 minutes and do this walkthrough tonight. 💙

🌙 LIGHTING CHECK
✔ Nightlights on every path to the bathroom (motion-sensor works best)
✔ Stairway lighting bright and functional
✔ No dark hallways between key rooms
✔ Porch/entry light working for emergency exit

🚶 FALL HAZARDS
✔ Remove loose rugs or mats (major cause of nighttime falls)
✔ Clear path from bed to bathroom
✔ Bed height allows feet flat on the floor
✔ Consider grab bars or bed rails (ask physician)

🧠 WANDERING PREVENTION (Dementia)
✔ Door alarms with soft chime
✔ Two-step deadbolt placement
✔ Car keys stored out of reach
✔ Trusted neighbor informed + contact visible

❓ FAQ FRIDAY: Does Florida Medicaid cover home nursing for my baby coming home from the NICU?

For many medically complex NICU graduates, yes, it does. 💙

Here’s how Florida Medicaid Private Duty Nursing works:

🩺 WHAT MAY BE COVERED:
✔ Skilled nursing visits (RN or LPN)
✔ Private duty nursing (hourly or shift-based care)
✔ In some cases, up to 24 hours/day based on medical need
✔ Trach care, ventilator support, G-tube feedings
✔ Medication administration & continuous monitoring

👶 WHO MAY QUALIFY:
✔ Medically complex infants with skilled nursing needs
✔ Technology dependent babies (trach, vent, G-tube, feeding support)
✔ Physician documentation of medical necessity
✔ Active Florida Medicaid coverage

⚠️ WHAT FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW:

The approval process is detailed and timesensitive.

It involves:
