Fern House We aim to take indigent, chronic drug and alcohol abusers off the streets and help them reintegrate into society. HOW IS FERN HOUSE DIFFERENT?

We take damaged lives and make them whole, reuniting broken families and guiding our clients toward a life of purpose. An alcohol or drug treatment program typically lasts a set number of days. After that, the addict is left alone in their recovery, with a good chance that they’ll return to an unsafe, unsupportive living situation. All the hard work they did to get sober is gone. The cycle starts

all over again. Fern House breaks that cycle by teaching men how to live without drugs or alcohol. We encourage them to stay with us until they are ready to stand on their own two feet, no matter how long that might take. We teach them how to cope without the crutches of drugs and alcohol. We help them reintegrate into society. Our Goals:

Provide our clients with a program of recovery that gives them the tools which will enable them to live sober lives as productive members of our community. Consequently, these men, formerly social and economic burdens to our society, become responsible, tax-paying citizens. Maintain a structured and disciplined environment that teaches our clients personal accountability and responsibility, thus helping him to achieve his restorative potential. Help our residents to clean up the wreckage of their past and reunite with their families. Teach our clients the importance of remaining active in their own recovery by involving them in programs that help others and give back to the community.

We have not done a Therapy Garden update in a while because the summer has not been nice to the novice gardener. We are however pleasantly surprised by the key lime tree putting out blossoms, we didnt expect any of the baby citrus trees to produce this year.

The long planned and slowly put together banana circle has been planted. The wild flower beds have sprouted and are trying to get going. New tomato, pepper and melon plants being transplanted in this week. More pictures of all that to come soon.

Go touch plants! Its good for them, its good for you, and its good for your mental health.

Fern House is honored to welcome violinist Caroline Campbell to join us for this year's Brunch event.
She has been nicknamed "violinist to the stars" and hand-picked to play duets with world-renowned artists including Sting, Andrea Bocelli, Barbra Streisand, Steven Tyler, Adam Levine, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart, David Foster, and Seal.

Seetha the Comic, Perry Sak, Jim Moran, Peter Fogel, Erik Shane Lewin and William "Rock the House" Lewis are all on the same bill.

Comedy shows typically don't structure themselves to bring this much talent to one show, but we are trying to up our game with this one. Join us and our host Steve Eskow for what will be the biggest comedy show of the year in South Florida.

All proceeds from this show will go to our scholarship fund which helps us take homeless individuals off the street and give them a starting point for a new life. The Indigent Care Fund was created in 2012 when we partnered with the McFarlane Foundation to help the homeless population in need of a fresh start.

Since its creation, the "Indigent Care Fund" has offered a hand up to over 1,250 individuals, and the demand for it is now outpacing our fundraising efforts to fund it. It's hard to quantify the value of a human life in dollars, but the 200ish thousand dollars that we have raised in 12 years for this fund has set so many human beings toward great success. Several of those individuals helped by this fund are now operating businesses in our community creating jobs for others. It really feels like money well spent.
