Sleep aid supplements: The most slept on supplement category (pun intended π€)
One often times overlooked area in our store is the Sleep Aid section. Which always blows my mind as sleep is an extremely important part of the muscle building process! If you're lacking in the sleep department I can guarantee you that you have more muscle building potential on the table.
Of course our muscle requires a stimulus to grow from which we achieve when we are training in the gym. Diet helps fuel and recover from our training. Sufficient sleep helps us with hormone regulation, recovery, inflammation reduction, and improving energy levels. All three are pretty equally important I would say so if you're lacking on one or the other, each one is 33% of the total pie!
So where do sleep aids come into the equation?
When you take a sleep aid you should notice more restful sleep right off the bat. Some of these ingredients have calming effects which helps you settle in around bed time. Things like L-Glycine an amino acid that helps lower body temperature, reduce activity in the brains "wakefulness" center, and increase activity in the brains "sleep" center. When it comes to melatonin we do carry products with it, we do carry products without it. Some users find that melatonin makes them wake up with a "groggy" feeling, while I have found this can mainly be based on individual dosing.
I myself typically have preferred melatonin-less sleep aids for the past few years. I have recently been using the Merica Labz Sleepy Joe Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (The flavor is just as amazing as it sounds) which has 3mg or what would be considered a moderate melatonin dose (I've seen products without any melatonin, up to maybe around 6+mg). I have been waking up feeling rejuvenated after every time I reach for my Sleepy Joe! I'll post up some of my personal whoop results with these photos so you can see for yourself!
