Today, on National Cancer Survivors Day, I’m reflecting on just how honored I am to be surrounded by such an incredible community of people.

Every week—and for some, every single day—I have the privilege of connecting with friends who have survived a diagnosis of cancer, friends who are currently navigating a diagnosis of cancer, and families walking this journey alongside someone they love. It is a community filled with courage, resilience, and hope.

For me, this day is especially personal. My own daughter is a survivor of childhood cancer, and watching her face challenges no child should ever have to endure changed me forever.

One thing I’ve learned through these relationships is that a diagnosis of cancer impacts far more than the body. Whether someone is newly diagnosed, in treatment, or years into survivorship, the mental and emotional impact can last a lifetime. The fear, anxiety, grief, uncertainty, trauma, and adjustments don’t simply disappear when treatment ends or when someone reaches the milestone of survivorship.

That’s why I’m passionate about continuing conversations around mental health and reducing stigma. Every person deserves a safe place to talk about what they’re carrying. Every person deserves support, understanding, and connection. Every person deserves to know they are not alone.

To my friends who are navigating a diagnosis of cancer, to those who have survived a diagnosis of cancer, and to the families standing beside them—thank you for allowing me to walk alongside you. It is an honor to support you, encourage you, and remind you of what is true:

You are brave.
You are strong.
You are worthy of support.
And you never have to face this alone.

May we all take the time to recognize the lasting mental health impact that can follow a diagnosis of cancer and continue showing up for one another with compassion, understanding, and hope.

Because no matter what storm you are facing, there is always hope in the chaos.

“Fresh scars. Old scars.

Some from years ago.
Some from chapters I’d rather forget.
Some from battles that nearly convinced me I wouldn’t have a future.

Today, when I look at them, I don’t see weakness.

I see survival.

I see growth.

I see proof that healing isn’t always linear, but it is possible.

The scars remain, but so do I.

And that’s a story worth telling.” - Jamie

If you’re fighting a battle no one else can see, keep going. Your story isn’t over yet.

“My dad never talked about how he felt.

I wish he had.”

For generations, many men were taught to carry everything alone.

To stay strong.
To push through.
To keep their struggles private.

But strength isn’t silence.

Strength is reaching out.
Strength is being honest when you’re struggling.
Strength is asking for help before the weight becomes too much to carry.

As we recognize Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s create space for the men in our lives to talk openly about what they’re facing—and let’s remind them they don’t have to face it alone.

To every man reading this: your feelings matter, your story matters, and your life matters.

Who is a man in your life that has made a difference for you? Let them know today. 💚

This Men's Health Month, let's talk about a critical issue: men's mental health. 🧠 ♂️

Did you know that men die by su***de 3.63 times more often than women? It's time to break the silence and prioritize emotional well-being. Help is available, and it's okay to ask for it.

Some seasons of life don’t look like blooming.

They look like surviving.

They look like sitting in the middle of what feels broken, exhausted, uncertain, and still choosing to stay.

The truth is, healing isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s simply getting through another day. Sometimes it’s choosing not to give up. Sometimes it’s carrying pieces of yourself that feel fragile and trusting that growth will come again.

If you’re in a season that feels dry, empty, or overwhelming, don’t mistake it for the end of your story.

Even fields that look dormant are preparing for new growth.

Keep going.

There is always hope in the chaos.

Last night, I had the opportunity to speak and share my journey and story, and to talk about the impact NAMI has had on my life.

NAMI has given me connection.

Understanding.

Education.

Advocacy.

And above all, hope.

It has also given me something I never expected—a family of people who truly understand the importance of creating change in our community. As we work to build a NAMI affiliate here in the Weber-Davis area, I am continually inspired by people who are passionate about reducing stigma, increasing advocacy, improving access to support, and creating safe spaces where conversations about mental illness can happen openly and without judgment.

Being able to share that message with such an incredible group of individuals was powerful, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. The work of building a stronger mental health community starts with connection, and I am excited to see what we can create together.

There is always hope in the chaos. 💚

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

When many people hear PTSD, they immediately think of our military and veterans—and rightfully so. Countless service members have carried invisible wounds home from war, and their sacrifices deserve our respect, gratitude, and support.

But PTSD doesn’t only come from the battlefield.

It can come from surviving abuse, assault, violence, medical trauma, childhood trauma, accidents, disasters, loss, or experiences that changed a life forever.

PTSD doesn’t care what caused the trauma. It doesn’t compare one person’s pain to another’s. It simply reflects what happens when the mind and body have endured more than they were ever meant to carry.

For those living with PTSD, the battle may not be visible. It can look like hypervigilance, nightmares, panic, avoidance, flashbacks, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, or simply trying to make it through another day.

This month, let’s honor our veterans, support survivors of all forms of trauma, and continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

If you are carrying invisible wounds, please know this:

You are not weak.
You are not broken.
You are not alone.

There is hope. There is healing. And there is always hope in the chaos. 💙

Happy 2nd Birthday to my little sidekick, Mozzie. 🐾💙

When I brought this tiny puppy home, I never could have imagined just how much he would mean to me. Somewhere along the way, he became so much more than a pet. He became a source of comfort on hard days, a reason to keep moving when things felt impossible, and a constant reminder that unconditional love still exists.

The bond between humans and animals is incredibly powerful, especially for those living with severe mental illness. While psychiatric service animals can be life-changing and even lifesaving for many people, they are often difficult to access and afford unless someone has a visible physical disability or qualifies through a veteran-specific program.

Today, as I celebrate this mischievous little guy’s birthday, I’m also feeling grateful for the role animals can play in our mental health journeys and wondering how many others could benefit from that same kind of support.

I’d love to hear your thoughts: Do you think more resources and support programs should exist to help people with severe mental illness access psychiatric service animals?

Drop your thoughts below. 🐾💙
