Robert A. Hall

Robert A. Hall, 69, passed away on August 24, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Karen Kay Wisniewski-Hall. They shared 37 years of marriage together.

Born in Boulder, CO, he was the son of the late Richard A. and Mary (Clark). Robert received his Bachelors degree from Lipscomb University as well as his Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt University. He built a career working for the U.S. State Department as an IT Manager.

Robert was just shy of 40 years of government service, with 35 years of worldwide overseas assignments in, but not limited to, Tunisia, Union of Myanmar, Thailand, Australia, India, Canada, Afghanistan, Washington DC, and Russia. Robert was an active member of Reading City Church in West Reading, volunteering his time to the food ministry, Heritage Park clean-up, and teaching pre-k Sunday school. He enjoyed reading, being outdoors, especially hiking and running in marathons.

In addition to his wife, Karen Kay, those cherishing Robert’s memory are his sons, Mackenzie Hall and Lincoln Hall, both of West Reading; his brothers, R. Scott Hall (Cookeville, TN); Gary Hall (Anita Kay) ( Nashville, TN); and sister-in-law Pat Hall (Cookeville, TN) ; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends across the world.

The family would especially like to thank the entire staff at Tower Health McGlinn Cancer Institute, Reading Hospital Hematology Oncology, and Tower Heath at Home Hospice for their professionalism, compassion, and care.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11:00 am at Reading City Church, 644 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Reading City Church at the address above, or to Lipscomb University.

Alfred D. Much

Alfred D. Much, 81, of Sinking Spring, passed away peacefully at his home on August 23, 2026.

Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Herbert Much and Margarete (Böhm) Much. He was one of five sons.

Alfred was the loving husband of Susanne (Marz) Much. He was the proud father of Andréa Much and Allison Meyers, and grandfather of Sean and Aidan. He is survived by two brothers, Edmund Much, husband to Sherry Much, of Camp Hill and Edwin Much, husband of Ruth Much, White Hall, Maryland. He is predeceased by brothers Waldemar and Arnold Much.

A graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1963, Alfred continued training as a carpenter and built a career in the construction trades. He became a general contractor and owner of his own business, a profession that reflected his skill, independence, and pride in his work.

Alfred was a veteran of the United States Army and a Mason. He was also a man who took great pride in his family, his work, and the life he built for those he loved.

Funeral services will be held at on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 11:00 am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

Interment with military honors will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.

Harold C. Schaeffer

Harold C. Schaeffer, 86, of Myerstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Reading Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Jean (Light) Schaeffer, who passed away on June 16, 2026. Harold and Betty celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage on May 13.

Harold was born in the family home in Hamburg to the late Milton H. and Mary A. (Miller) Schaeffer. He was a 1957 graduate of Hamburg High School.

Harold began his working years as a painter, applying his talents to many different projects, including painting hex signs. He was a skilled craftsman who truly enjoyed working with his hands. For many years, and until his retirement, Harold worked as a cabinet maker for Ernst Cabinet Works of Hamburg.

Above all, Harold enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved traveling with his beloved wife, Betty. The two went everywhere together and shared many wonderful adventures, including trips to Atlantic City, Disney World, Hawaii, Germany, the Bahamas, and many other destinations.

His memory will be treasured by his daughter, Debora K., wife of Donald E. Keim, Jr., of Wyomissing; his grandchildren, Lauren Fisher (Edward), Paige, Brooke, Alex, and Austin; and his great-grandchildren, Aria, Oliver, and Kace. He is also survived by his nephew, Allen Schaeffer, and niece, Faye Heckman.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was predeceased by his brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Marie.

Contributions in Harold's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Barbara L. Radcliffe

Barbara Louise Radcliffe, passed away peacefully August 12, 2026 in the Highlands at Wyomissing. She was born December 27, 1934, to Herbert C. and Elsie A. (Reeser) Kohler in Allentown, PA. Her father, Herbert Kohler was a former editor of the Reading Times newspaper. Both of her parents predeceased her.

Barbara graduated from Wyomissing High School, and worked for many years with the Long Insurance Agency in Reading, PA, as a secretary / bookkeeper. Growing up in Wyomissing, she and her mother attended Atonement Lutheran Church, developing several friendships there.

In 1963, she was married to the Rev. Dr. Frank Edmund Radcliffe as his second marriage. She is pre-deceased by her husband who died in 1994. Barbara left the Long Agency when she was married, and she transitioned to being a step- mother and helped out in the church office, at times on a daily basis at the then Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading, where her husband was pastor. She also became very involved in the church, helping along with other women for various receptions, and she also enjoyed spending time when she could with the church quilter group.

She was a good seamstress, but her preferred pastime was knitting and she was able to do some complex knitting projects, blending different colored yarns to form patterns. When younger she enjoyed ice skating. She also was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting flowers and maintaining the flower beds, as well as tending to a small vegetable garden.

Those cherishing Barbara’s memory are her step-son, Brian Radcliffe (Susan), and stepdaughter, Cynthia Flickinger (Paul); step grand-children: Heidi Kathrein (Gregor), Eric Pfanner(Tamsin), Marta Bredehoeft (Bryan), Scott Radcliffe (Tracy), Lisa Moncur, (Maria) and David Fogelman (Ruth); several step great grandchildren, Katerina Kathrein, Adrian Kathrein, Isabel Pfanner, Thomas Pfanner, Christopher Bredehoeft Lukas Bredehoeft, Abraham Fogelman and Samantha Weidman; as well her niece, Karen Ellis; and nephews, Craig Moyer and Jeffrey Brown.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her four sisters and their husbands: Elizabeth Moyer (Raymond), Grace Wonderly (Charles), Katherine Radcliffe (Frank), and Marie Brown (Fenwick): as well as her step-daughter, Dr. Beverly L. Pfanner; a niece, Joan Patton; and nephew, Charles Moyer.

The funeral service for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd, Wyomissing, PA, 19610, with burial to follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. to the beginning of the service.
