It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Charles “Chuck” Edward Carroll on October 9, 2026.

Born on August 11, 1948, Chuck leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory and carry a part of him in their hearts always.

Chuck had a strong personality, a stubborn streak, and a quick wit that brought laughter to those around him. He had a special way of knowing when someone needed a laugh and could often bring light to even the most difficult moments. His humor and unmistakable personality made him uniquely himself, and the memories he created will continue to live in the hearts of all who loved him.

Like many people, Chuck faced struggles throughout his life. He battled addiction, experiencing periods of sobriety and times when he struggled again. He returned to meetings and continued trying to find his way forward. His journey was not always an easy one, but it was a part of his life and his story. Addiction does not tell the whole story of who Chuck was. He was also a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a man whose humor could bring light into the lives of others, even when life was difficult. His struggles were real, but so were his efforts, his laughter, and the love and memories he leaves behind.

Heather Kelly Kenyon, 57, wife of Pete Kenyon, of West Union, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026.

She was born on February 25th, 1969 to Jack Marcial and Karen Hess Hill in Syracuse, New York.

She was predeceased by her parents. In addition to her husband, Pete, Heather is survived by her stepfather, Fred Hill; her beloved children: Kirsten Kelly, Autumn Kiser, Abbey Crawford and Noah Crawford; sisters: Lisa Broniszewski, Erin Edwards, Cassie Heitz, and Victoria Marcial; brothers: Billy Marcial and Shane Marcial; and five grandchildren.

She was a carefree and easy-going person who always found the light in every situation. She was fun, funny, and had a contagious laugh that was unforgettable to all who knew her. She loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved music, the outdoors, plants, and found joy in the simple things in life. She loved hard and gave that love freely to the people around her. She had a way of bringing light and laughter into every day making those around her feel loved. Her beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and she will remain in our hearts forever.

Billy Joe Gray, 82, passed away at Cottingham Hospice House Sunday September 20, 2026.

Billy never met a stranger and will be missed by all that knew him. He spent many years managing the Walhalla office of Blossman Gas. In 2022 he was honored to receive his 50-year Masonic pin as a member of the Walhalla Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his children, Carol Wilson (Mark), and Scottie Gray, his grandchildren, Josh Gray, Jake Wilson (Brooke), Kasey Gray (Anna), Sameul Gray, and six great grandchildren.

Billy was predeceased by his parents Furman and Ruby Gray, and brother David Gray.

A graveside service will be held 11AM, Saturday October 3, 2026, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Lakeview Assisted Living, 320 Camp Road Walhalla SC 29691.

Howard Patrick King, age 94, died peacefully surrounded by his three daughters on September 7, 2026, in Salem, South Carolina. He was born in London, England, on March 19, 1932. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many others whose lives were touched by his charismatic personality.

Howard served in the British Army National Service until 1970. That same year, he moved with his wife, Claire, and their four children to West Bloomfield, Michigan.

He worked for Burroughs/Unisys until his retirement in 1993. In 1994, Howard and Claire moved to Keowee Key, South Carolina, where he became a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Foothills Chorale, and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Howard enjoyed music, dancing, hiking, and playing sports. He was a devout Catholic whose faith and community were central to his life.

Howard is survived by his daughters, Julie Wright (Rich), Lorraine D’Agostino (Bob), and Moira Morgan (Eric Brown); his daughter-in-law, Sheila King; his grandchildren, Heather Little (Michael), Christopher King (Carrie), James Wright (Jennifer), Kirstin Wright (Jose Gomez), Cameron Wright, Rachel Verbeke (Leopoldo Spindola), Madeline Rylander (Steven), Abigail Verbeke, Leo Verbeke, Zack Morgan, and Victoria Lake (Patrick); and his great-grandchildren, Grace, Nora, Enzo, Reginald, Rodrigo, Katherine, Claire, and Cleopatra.

On March 26, 2026, Don Mateyka lost his battle with multiple myeloma. Don made the world a better place for many people; his passing leaves a very large void in the lives of those of us who now must go on without him.

Born on April 29, 1950 in Flushing, New York, to loving parents Mildred and Vladimir (Lod), Don’s older sister, Susan, adored him from the moment she first saw him. Like his father, Don developed an interest in flying—and in all things mechanical. Many items were disassembled to satisfy his curiosity of ‘how things worked’; not all were reassembled as easily as they came apart.

Growing up in New Hyde Park, New York, Don graduated from Herricks High School in 1967, then went on to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he majored in mechanical engineering and joined Air Force ROTC. Upon graduation from Lehigh, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force. He attended undergraduate pilot training at Laredo AFB, in Texas, graduating at the top of his class. He was selected for duty as a T-38 Instructor Pilot at Columbus AFB in Mississippi, where he distinguished himself over the next three years with the 50th Flying Training Squadron. After completing his instructor duties, Don was selected to be a C-141B Aircraft Commander with the 63rd Military Airlift Wing based at Norton AFB, Redlands, California. Samuel Irby Adams III, 80, of Seneca, South Carolina, passed away on September 4, 2026.

Irby was born on October 23, 1945, in Macon, Mississippi, to the late Samuel Irby Adams Jr. and Lucille Catledge Adams. He graduated from Noxubee County High School in 1963 and served for four years in the Army National Guard. He made Seneca his home for 41 years and was a faithful member of St. Mark United Methodist Church throughout that time.

Above all else, Irby’s greatest joy was being a father to his children and “Poppoo” to his grandchildren. His family was the center of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Irby was a devoted fan of Clemson University athletics, Mississippi State baseball, and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour novels, watching favorite Westerns no matter how many times he had already seen them, and “boogieing” at Jazz on the Alley. He was also a consistent reader of the Bible, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

Irby never met a stranger. He had a special gift for making each person feel as though they were the most important person in the room. His warm personality, genuine interest in others, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Billy Richard “Ricky” Porter, 64, of Seneca, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at his home.

A native of Oconee County, SC, Mr. Porter was the son of the late Billy Harrison Porter and Frances Norton Porter. After graduating from Seneca High School, Mr. Porter completed some college while working for Duke Energy as an electrician. During his lifetime, he was a dedicated member of the High Falls Church of God and a devoted muscle car enthusiast. Mr. Porter loved his family and friends dearly and tried to spend as much of his time as possible with them before his passing.

Mr. Porter is survived by his son: Richard Bronson Porter; daughters: Kristy Bryson and Tina Porter; grandchildren: Trinity and River Porter, Jazmyn Logan, Treviauna Dawson, Samantha Bryson, Peyton Bryson, Landon Bryson, and Lily Bryson; great-grandchildren: Aiden and Lincoln Cobb.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Porter was preceded in death by the late Ronnie Porter.

The family is at their respective homes.

Carole Florence Nichols passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026. She was born on October 5, 1933 in Elmhurst, Illinois the third and youngest child of John Francis Nichols and Mary Florence Kelly, nee Littlefield. She was predeceased by her sister Jayne Pietsch (Lysle) and brother John (Jack) Francis Nichols II (Doris).

After graduation from Immaculate Conception High School in 1951, Carole worked as a secretary for Standard Register in Chicago till she married and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1954. Following the end of her marriage in 1965 she took up bookkeeping, working first for Grand Valley State College (now University) and for the American Red Cross 1968-'74, where in addition to her regular responsibilities she was a valued member of the Red Cross Disaster Team. She was also a regular box-office volunteer for the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.

Following her move to Florida she worked as chief accountant for the Orlando Regional Medical Center 1974-'87, after which she moved to Atlanta to be closer to her daughters. There she worked as a small-business accountant and again with the Red Cross as a volunteer.

Following a long-held dream, in 1989 she and her son purchased and renovated the historic Mercer County Jail to create The Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, which she operated for three years, hosting visitors from around the world.

Cecil “Wayne” Ham, age 65, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Mountain Rest, South Carolina. Wayne was born in Macon, Georgia to Cecil and Sue Ham.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Sue, and his eldest son, Joseph (Joey). He is survived by his wife, Meg; his son, Jamie [Paige] Ham, his daughter-in-law, Samantha Chandler, and his stepdaughter, Laura [Kevin] Burke; his grandchildren, Chase Ham, Waylon Chandler, Jolie Rae Ham, Jordan Ham, Riley Ham, and Charlie Burke; and his sister, Vicki Lord.

Wayne was affectionately known as ‘Hambone’ to his family and friends; a nickname he earned while working for Georgia Power. Wayne retired from Georgia Power after working there for 42 years where he made lifelong friends that became family.

His retirement was well-spent with his wife, Meg, on their farm with their animals, including dogs, horses, goats, and chickens. He loved spending time with his family and friends whether that was sitting by the lake, floating by the pool, or just hanging out spending quality time with each other. Wayne could usually be found near a TV watching motorcross, NASCAR, and golf or cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

Wayne will be remembered for his humor and kindness; he always had a way of making people feel special and seen. A celebration of life will be planned by family at a future date.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Eric Mills, who died
on August 2, 2026, at the age of 32. Born January 8,1994 in Atlanta, Georgia, Daniel
was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. He held a
deep appreciation for the outdoors and found peace in nature. Above all, Daniel
cherished his family and time spent with them, whether enjoying meaningful
conversation over an excellent meal, hiking, fishing, biking or sharing stories by the fire.
He had a kind heart, a generous spirit and cared passionately about the wellbeing of
others and the greater good of the world.

He is survived by his parents, Allen and Michelle Mills, brothers Chris (Tara) Meitzler,
Brandon Meitzler and Ian Mills, grandparents Joan Mills and Pam Batchelor, and other
family members and dear friends who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by
his brother, Brian Mills and grandparents Robert Mills and Larry Batchelor.
He will be remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched and the memories he
created.

A private service will be held for the family. The family appreciates the love, support and
understanding of both Daniel’s and their own many friends and loved ones during this
difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to a
